What's in our Car Town garage today? (March 23, 2014)

What's in our Car Town garage today?

1996 McLaren F1 LM

The LM version pushes the McLaren F1 to the very edge of its life and it's inspired by the F1 GTR that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995. It maybe a road-legal version of the GTR racer, the F1 LM features the same 6.1L BMW V12 engine but with reduced weight so that the top speed is 225mph. Only five units were sold, each costs over 4 million US Dollars.

1984 Ferrari Testarossa

Still one of the most iconic exotics in the past century, the Testarossa is notable for featuring a boxer-12 engine that was carried from the Berlinetta Boxer. The Colombo boxer-12 engine rigged to the middle produces 396PS of power and can do 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds. Top speed is about 290kph. Apart from its high-performance output, the Testarossa is still one of the sexiest cars ever to be designed by Pininfarina.

1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

In its time, the Thunderbird from Ford is the best in class where the Buick Riviera and and Pontiac Grand Prix was positioned at and for this fourth-generation model, this Thunderbird tries to stay classy in its class. Available as a coupe and a convertible, it's available in either a 6.4L V8 or a 7.0L V8 with different flavors. Legend has it, it was the car of choice for Duncan Macleod in the Highlander TV series.

The New MINI (F56)

Once upon a time in 1959, the Mini compact was born and the design penned by Sir Alec Issigonis is a timeless masterpiece. Everyone loves this because of its timeless looks and compact sizing as well as its athletic characteristics. Fast forward to present day and Mini has been evolved into the piece you see it now. When BMW took over the responsibilities for the new Mini, the modern remake shares nothing from the old Mini Cooper. Now that it reached the third-generation model, codenamed F56, the New Mini is less of a Mini, more of a...Wumbo. If you don't know what in the word is Wumbo, well go ask Patrick from SpongeBob. You know? I wumbo...you wumbo...he, she, me wumbo...wumbo...wumboing...wumbology! The study of wumbo! That's first grade!

2015 Mini hatch

At first glance, you might think that this latest Mini is a bit more of a facelift but YOU ARE WRONG. VERY WRONG because everything's brand new from every nook and cranny...well almost because that's the way the Mini looks like through the years but anyway, since the new model is now bigger than the last model, perhaps the engineers from BMW had a degree of wumbology and again, such size should no longer be called a Mini anymore and it should have been called Wumbo. Uhh...did they set it to wumbo?

2015 Mini hatch interior

2015 Mini hatch interior

Apart from being a wumbo on the sizing department, looks like wumbo gets a new interior and for some purists, it seems all wrong because the new model's speedometer is now on the driver's side rather than being on a center like most Minis had through the years. They're not very pleased by this because the center console where the speedo used to be is now been occupied by the radio or sat-nav depending on the variant. If the new layout on the dashboard doesn't bother if you're more of a casual type of person, there's a lot of explanation to do once you're inside the new Mini because even though the dashboard's feel all wrong, the seats are all nice and friendly and because this car is bigger than the old one, you can really fit your mates especially at the back but as a warning, you can't bring your big momma to the back because. well that's the reason why is their a big momma in the scenario, she can't squeeze herself in.

So, what about the way it behaves? Well, even though a wumbo in the dimensions stake, the new Mini is still quite an enjoyable car to drive if you're free and even in the high-end Cooper S model, loaded with the 2.0L petrol engine producing 192PS of power and 300Nm of torque, you really can't tell. The entry-level One comes with either a 1.3L petrol or a 1.5L diesel engine while the normal Mini Cooper comes with either s 1.5L petrol engine or a 1.5L diesel engine. All of those engines are turbocharged but whichever variant you chose, the Mini is still as casual as a modern Fiat 500 or a modern VW Beetle. Those modern remakes of all-time classics may not be more sensible for the purists but I think they can still take the time and the effort to join the club if you had admission.

2015 Mini hatch

Back to the Cooper S model of the Mini, this car, in its manual gearbox configuration, can do 0-100kph in 6.8 seconds and flatout in 235kph. That's quite impressive if you're going to outrun a wheelchair rigged with fire extinguishers and with the combined fuel economy of about 17.5km/L (5.7L/100km), it's still a frugal car as well. I am humbled by the way this new Mini behaves judging by the way it behaves like a hot hatch and how it still got its charisma retained from the last model.

Price-wise and since this is a BMW-made machine, I'd expect this to be quite an expensive hatchback...but I was wrong-ish. The base One starts at 17,450 Euros up to 23,800 Euros for the Cooper S model. It's a smart buy for casual drivers but it's not quite as reasonably-priced as the Beetle or the 500.

In conclusion; the new Mini maybe more of a Wumbo and the interior looks a bit all wrong judging by the trademark Mini center speedo is gone and the speedo is now centered on the driver's side rather than the center because this is where the radio is now located at, it's still worth a humble machine that will make you feel humbled at the end of the day. Thanks to the new turbocharged engine and the new UKL1 platform, the new Mini is still a game-changing city car that truly lives in the Mini tradition of NOT NORMAL. This is the NEW NORMAL, after all.

Divergent

Young adult books, they have always been the craze for every young people right now and such examples like the Twilight saga or The Hunger Games are proven so popular, they spawned movie franchises like every other books converted into films that shares a little with the original formats. Now, 2014 sees the arrival of another one of those kind of books turned movies and this movie is based on the worldwide bestseller written by Veronica Roth. It's about a choice that will truly change your life forever. A choice that denies your beliefs, a choice determines your loyalties - forever, and a choice that CAN TRANSFORM YOU. It's the book Publishers Weekly states that it's a memorable, unpredictable journey from which it is nearly impossible to turn away.

Divergent

Based on a phenomenal best-seller, Divergent is set on a post-apocalyptic Chicago after a series of wars that changed the world. In the world of Divergent, the society is divided into five factions dedicated to the cultivation of a virtue; Candor (honest), Abnegation (selfless), Dauntless (brave), Amity (peaceful), and Erudite (intelligent). For the main character named Beatrice (played by Shailene Woodley), she's neither of those factions because she possesses different virtues that is too enigmatic and classified herself as, you guessed it, a DIVERGENT. Desperate to keep her status a secret, she renamed herself as Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live on their choices.

Unlike any other movies based on young adult books, Divergent is quite a unique masterpiece to watch. Even though you find it to be poorly sorted and covers most but not all parts of the book, this movie can't be outlooked in the middle of your viewing pleasure. From dystopic thrills, risky decisions, unexpected romance, and the cliffhanger that will leave you breathless, Divergent really raises the bar to give fans the most exhilarating moments they ever heard of from the book.

Even though Shailene is proven to be a rising actress, she really managed to pull one out from the box and like the character, she is quite a fiercer, braver, and tougher actress ever to be appeared on the film and with Theo James keeping up with the love chemistry and Kate Winslet portraying a villain, this movie really knows what it should be.

It's all about following your choices, facing risky situations, think of your partner, and take precautions. Divergent really revs up the Spring movie lineup but it can be quite as deceptive as a bad relationship but better still, you can't overlook this in a middle of nowhere.

If you're planning to watch one, go a find out what the critics are raving about Divergent.

Disney's Muppets Most Wanted

Three years ago, the Muppets, one of Jim Henson's memorable masterpieces, returned to their former glory courtesy of Disney and just as we thought we forgot about our childhood favorites, we were wrong because the Muppets are back for good. Really good. In 2014, the Muppets returned with their most hilarious escapade to date and for a quick heads-up, this will surely get wibbly-wobbly, if you know what I mean.

Muppets Most Wanted

It's called Muppets Most Wanted and this winy sequel sees everyone's favorite TV puppets, the Muppets, going on a globetrotting trip of a lifetime as they'll being doing a world tour but then...there's a twist! Their new manager is a criminal who works with the world's number one criminal, Constantine! Who is Constantine you may asked? He looks just like Kermit the Frog but you can tell that's him with the mole in his face and his hideous tone of his voice but it wasn't easy because Constantine truly blends himself as Kermit and his evil plan was to steal a priceless treasure and put the blame on the Muppets!

With Kermit behind bars, it's a race against time to clear his name, save the Muppets, and stop Constantine's evil plan before it's too late!

All your favorite Muppets, from Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear (the one that goes wakka-wakka!), Miss Piggy, Animal, Gonzo, Walter, Swedish Chef, and many others have once again back to the silver screen and look at them, aren't they as fresh as their comeback three years ago? But still, Most Wanted isn't a Muppets movie without the participation of celebs joining the cast just for the fun of it. They had Ricky Gervais (from the original UK version of The Office) playing the role of Dominic Badguy, the guy who booked the Muppets for a world tour only to be revealed as Constantine's right-hand man, 30 Rock's Tina Fey as Nadya the prison guard who reluctantly joins Kermit in an effort to clear his name and save the Muppets before getting framed by his doppleganger, and Ty Burrell as Jean Pierre Napoleon, an Interpol agent who's following the trail of Constantine.

In tradition, Muppets Most Wanted features some very special cameo appearance by some of the best-loved celebs such as Thor's Tom Hiddleston, Good Luck Charlie's Bridgit Mendler, Austin and Ally's Ross Lynch, Salma Hayek, Celine Dion, and many others. Can you spot the special guests in the movie?

Anyway, while this is considered the sequel to 2011's Muppets movie and by the line that "they've ordered a sequel", it doesn't feel as cheery as any other Muppets movies from the past but when things get even more offbeat, it surely keeps you hanging just for fun.

One thing I find this movie to be somewhat corny is the songs in the movie because as I expected, it promised to be more cheery and offbeat but it's a bit too corny and a bit too...dry.

But still, despite some holes that needs to be filled, Most Wanted is probably one of the good picks to watch for the weekends. You can bring the kids to watch this film on your free time, too! I'm sure those kids would enjoy seeing Kermit the Frog and the Muppets once again.

My rating: 3.4 out of 5.

Annaliza: Ang Pamamaalam

On the last days of Annaliza, we witnessed our main titular character Annaliza (Andrea Brillantes) risking her family from the crutches of Makoy (Carlo Aquino) and Stella (Kaye Abad) no matter the circumstances. With Makoy finally dead and Annaliza sacrificed herself to save Stella from the fires despite her hatred to her, Annaliza's safe and Stella finally apologized to Annaliza for her brutal wrongdoings. After that, Annaliza and her real mother, Isabel (Denise Laurel) left to America. You get the idea but...

Now for the final episode of Annaliza...

Two years has passed since Annaliza and Isabel left to America for their new lease of life but the person she really misses a lot is her biological father Guido (Zanjoe Marudo). But then, good things happen. Isabel told Annaliza that they'll be coming back!

At the airport, Gudio, his friends, and Annaliza's friends as well as her stepsister Arlene were present but then, Arlene told the shocking news that the airplane where Annaliza and Isabel were on it...has gone missing or just so we thought. Upon hearing the bad news, Guido felt saddened until the appearance of Annaliza and a happy reunion between them.

With the sudden reappearance of Isabel, the happiest moment happened when Guido proposed Isabel, finally. Everyone was very excited to see this coming!

After that, Isabel finally married Guido as her new husband and the family Annaliza wished for finally came true at the end.

Annaliza ending

And that concludes the modern remake of Annaliza. Looks like the drama's storyline is finally completed, the one where the classic version didn't tried since the original Annaliza actress, Julie Vega, died and thanks to Andrea Brillantes' class act as the modern Annaliza, this ending is more of a proper tribute to the original.

Gran Turismo 6: Big muscle or small hatch? A 47-second science question...

When it comes to mastering a certain racetrack, what kind of car do you choose? Would you go for a big V8-powered muscle car or a small but nimble hot hatchback?

City of Arts and Sciences - Night_2

To find out, I picked two prime specimens at this case and find out if size does matters in the science of Gran Turismo 6.

City of Arts and Sciences - Night_1

On the small side, I chose the Renaultsport Clio III RS200, the hot version of the third-generation Renault Clio and known to be the last hot Clio to come with the manual gearbox because the latest version, as GT6 failed to put it until further notice, has a double-clutch nonsense that purists found it in dismay. On the big side, I've gone for the 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 and Mustang enthusiasts want to call it a track-prepped Mustang because even though it produces less than the ultimate GT500, it's beefed up suspension setup and race-prepped updates truly deserves a reputation of being the successor of the original machine that was used for Trans-Am racing.

The setting - the Ascari track. The objective - fastest time wins.

Ascari Full Track_5 Ascari Full Track_4

And they're off! While the Boss has over twice the power than the Clio, the French hot hatch is lightweight and its more maneuverable on the corners. The Boss may catch the Clio on the straights but in the corners, the Clio makes a comeback but it's still wasn't enough to nabbed the horse and by the results, the Clio RS finished 4/5th of a second slower than the Boss.

So, it's a clear win for the Boss 302 but what if the Ascari track's getting all wet after a moderate rain? We're going to restart the experiment but this time, things will change because it's a wet lap and in theory, the Clio will surely make amends to the wet track...

Because of all the torque in the Boss 302, you might be having a hard time to survive the wet lap and even if you treat it gently, a slight mistake such as getting out of course or a spin will cost you a big damage but on the plus side, you can enjoy powersliding in the rain...for fun.

Ascari Full Track_3 Ascari Full Track_2

The Clio maybe dealing less mistakes in the wet lap but unlike the Mustang Boss 302, its front-wheel drive powertrain makes it easier to survive the rainy day and with good traction, there's nothing to go wrong with it and you won't do the same mistake as I did to the Boss 302.

Ascari Full Track_1

In the end, the Clio RS managed a 2:39.144 lap time on a wet condition while the Boss 302, thanks to a spin, came to the finish line 11 seconds later.

Ascari Full Track

Conclusive proof that even though high-powered sportscars like the Boss 302 eat the little guys for tea, it's the little guys like the Clio that can survive the wet lap better than a rear-wheel drive muscle car but you can try one for yourself and find out.

BMW 4-Series Cabrio and 2-Series Coupe

A few moments ago, BMW thrown us a curve by introducing their new naming scheme where odd numbers represent saloons (or in the case of Gran Turismo models like the 3GT or the 5GT) and even numbers such as coupes, cabriolets, or in the case of Gran Coupes like the 6 Gran Coupe. It was quite a confusing act to follow and when the replacement for the 3-Series Coupe known as the 4-Series Coupe came last year, I told that this car warns that BMW is changing. I explained that it has a case of "8-speed-gearbox-quicker-than-manual-gearbox-itis", it's 0.7 seconds quicker than the A5 3.0 TFSI quattro, and the case of "ride-is-too-hard-osis". Well you know what? I'm not going to explain those even though I just did because word from BMW is...they now had a convertible version...

2014 BMW 4-Series Cabrio

2014 BMW 4-Series Cabrio

...and here it is, just in time for the spring season. The new 4-Series Cabrio may have the same nuisance that the coupe version got but now with the retractable roof that can be closed or open at the touch of the button, you can't really tell if its a well-mannered cruiser or not because even though with the roof open, it just never feel any magic you can expect from other luxury convertibles that are more expensive than this.

It costs 48,200 Euros for the entry-level 428i Cabrio, which is annoyingly over 7,000 Euros more than the Coupe version of the same spec and for the top of the line BMW 435i Cabrio model fitted with an 8-speed Steptronic gearbox and the M Sport pack, it costs 61,350 Euros, which is surprisingly ten thousand more than the coupe version with the same gearbox and the same package! Why would BMW charge this much for an open-top version of the 4-Series? Who knows? Your guess is as good as ours...

2014 BMW 4-Series Cabrio interior

2014 BMW 4-Series Cabrio

Anyway, while the price is a bit of an issue for the cabrio version, there's a bit more to it than that because the 4-Series Cabrio tries to stay as classy as a glamour girl walking on the streets of Beverly Hills 90210 and apart from the glam thing, it's still a tough cookie with a lot of tough love to follow. Judging by the fact that it's several kilos heavier than the coupe version, the new model is about 80% more rigid than the old 3-Series Cabrio it replaces. Despite that, you can still jitter yourself like you have been taking ten cups of caffeine in one try just to get higher heartbeats. Who wouldn't try that but who cares? It feels a bit jitterish when this care come face to face with potholes or bumps but with the roof closed, the jitter's all gone because with the roof up, it conjoins the structure as one, providing the new Cabrio the same silence as you get from a luxo-barge saloon car.

It's fine to drive with the roof up in places that never rain but if you're in Seattle or London or Berlin or places that rain frequently, you're going to take some time here because at the push of the button, it takes 20 seconds to close the roof but with the roof closed, it doesn't look like more of a coupe at all thanks to those three sections of the roof. If it's colored black, it's fine but with colors in it, that would just spoiled it.

But still, with or without the roof, the 4-Series Coupe is more conservative in any angle but because this isn't more of a sports coupe, it doesn't make the grade so how about something a bit more...sight for sore eyes?

2014 BMW 2-Series

This is the new 2-Series Coupe, it's the replacement to the 1-Series Coupe except in my eye, it isn't quite as baffling as the 4-Series because this is a nimbler and lighter coupe that can take you to A to B faster than you can say...gelignite.

Even though it follows BMW's new naming scheme, BMW claims that this new model tries to capture the magic from the classic BMW 2002 but is it the proper remake of the old 2002?

Remember the top-of-the-line M135i from 2012? Two years ago, it wants to be more of a hot hatch even though it wasn't classified as one but because of the straight-six engine that produces 326HP of power, it tries to outrun any other hatchback but because this is rear-wheel drive, the problems include that it's not friendly in the rain and the luggage is poor because the rear-wheel drive drivetrain just eats up the space. Yeah, you heard that idea but what about this? The top-of-the-line model is the M235i Coupe, priced at 43,750 Euros, and because it has the same 326HP straight-six turbo engine as the M135i hatchback, this new model is worth of a power in a light package. This is like putting a thousand sticks of gelignite in your kid's lunch box. Did I said anything wrong? Oh well...

2014 BMW 2-Series Coupe
...there's nothing too wrong about having a 2-Series Coupe in your garage. Whether if its the entry-level 220i, the 218d, the 220d, the 225d, or the M235i, you can't go wrong with it well, just the petrol models in it because those diesel models can be a bit of a blunt for a sports coupe rigged with something that is a bit too cheesy. Because judging by the way it behaves, I'm starting to think that this fun-to-drive Bimmer maybe more of starting where the old 1-Series Coupe left off but also continuing the legacy of the classic BMW 2002. The reason why is because it's all in the roots. The BMW 2002 is a classic compact rear drive masterpiece that not only it was more of a grand tourer but on the track days, it can never be outlooked in the competition. It was the car where Hans Stuck won the Nurburgring 24-Hour race in 1970, proving this classic a track-ready work of art.

2014 BMW 2-Series

Well, I never though of saying this, but with this car, BMW sure knows why they reminded of their roots in the development of the 2-Series Coupe and although this car isn't much more of a nostalgia, the 2-Series sure knows how to capture the magic of the 2002.

Conclusion time; while the 4-Series Cabrio tries to be as glam as a glamour girl in Beverly Hills even though it has some issues that needs plastic surgery, the 2-Series Coupe is all about following its roots to the BMW 2002 even though it has no connection to it. Needless to say, if I had to choose which one, I'd go for the 2 because I can have as much fun until I'm taking a number 2 on the loo.

2014 BMW 2-Series

No seriously, it's the M235i Coupe that makes me want to take a number 2 on the loo after spending hours of fun in it...

What's in our Car Town garage today?

1996 McLaren F1

In the 1990's, this British-engineered hypercar is the speed king at this decade. The McLaren F1 set the benchmark as one of the fastest production supercars ever made. Penned by Gordon Murray, the F1 features some of the unique stuff that no other modern supercars had such as the golden engine bay which makes it the best for heat insulation and a middle-positioned driver's seat to give the owner some racecar-like feeling while driving on the road. Powered by BMW's 6.1L V12 engine, the top speed of the F1 is 240mph.

Premiered at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Huayra is the successor to the decade-long Pagani Zonda, the maiden hypercar of the Modena-based manufacturer.  The name Huayra comes from a South American God of the wind and as the name implies, it promises to blow away the competition thanks to its Mercedes-AMG M158 V12 twin-turbo engine that propels this hypercar from a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of over 227mph.

2008 Pagani Zonda Cinque

Although it may not be classified as the "final edition" of the Zonda, the Cinque is a very special Zonda catered for the elite few because only five of these models are made and sold out. Although it is essentially a softened road-legal version of the record-breaking Zonda R track car, the Cinque is the first to introduce a new composite made out of carbon fiber and titanium called Carbotanium.

F1 2014: Australia GP

The F1 2014 season has begun with more twists than the last years and in the first race of the new season, held at Melbourne, Australia, Mercedes' Nico Rosberg kickstarts the season with his first win, leaving newcomer Kevin Magnussen of McLaren-Mercedes placed 2nd and teammate Jenson Button placed 3rd. During the race, Caterham's Kamui Kobayashi was cleared of any blame over his first-lap accident with Williams' Felipe Massa, saying that the Japanese racer's F1 car suffered a serious tech failure.

Originally, Red Bull Racing's new member, Daniel Ricciardo, was placed 2nd but he lost his 2nd place finish after stewards decided his car had run with too high a fuel flow rate during the race. In other words, he violated a new regulation that cars are limited to a fuel flow rate of 100kg/hour.

With Rosberg kickstarts the F1 2014 season, next race will be in Sepang, Malaysia, this March 30, 2014.

GT6: Cars that are Gran Turismo exclusive - Chevy SSR

Today, I'm going to take a look at the very rare and very modern take of a classic Chevrolet pickup truck, the SSR. Inspired by the looks of the classic 1948 C3100, the SSR is more of a ute rather than a traditional workhorse. It behaves like a sportscar or to be precise...this American remake of a classic Chevy pickup truck has the feel of an Australian ute...that GT6 never had one. Pity...

This SSR will run through the Goodwood Hillclimb but at what time on a rainy day will it post?

It posted a 1:06.818 lap time on a rainy day!

The V8 engine sounds so muscular but the bulk of it wasn't quite quick enough to beat the competition. But still, even though it was discontinued in 2006, it's still a future classic and thanks to the fact that it sold very poorly, it's a rarity on the streets.

Six Nations 2014 FINAL

And here it is...the conclusion of the RBS Six Nations 2014 match and it all ends here as six of the greatest rugby nations; Wales, England, Italy, France, Scotland, and Ireland, scrum their way to snag the championship title and even though Wales' frenetic win against  Scotland at the score of 51 to 3, it's still wasn't enough.

Highlights;

Wales vs. Scotland

Italy vs. England

France vs. Ireland

After five grueling rounds in the RBS Six Nations 2014, there is only one team that shook the world since Round 1, the team that performed an impressive show in the face of the fans, the team that stood up and be counted all the way to the very. So, who won the 2014 Six Nations? There's only one answer...

It's the IRFU from Ireland. The Irish rugby team declared the victor. And that concludes the RBS Six Nations 2014. Congratulations Ireland!

1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

The tale of the Chevrolet Camaro began in 1966 as General Motors' answer against the Ford Mustang. It was a heck of a battle but it seems that the Camaro failed to stack against the Mustang even as years go by. This is the convertible version or to be accurate, the SS Convertible version. The SS model of the first Camaro comes with either a 5.7L V8 engine or a 6.5L V8 engine. Legend has it that this convertible version once used as a pace car for the 1967 Indianapolis 500 race.

1965 Ford Mustang Convertible

Born in 1964, the Ford Mustang served as one of the founding fathers of the muscle-car craze and since its first year of sales, Ford managed to racked up almost 700,000 orders, which is still an industry record that hasn't matched up as of now. The first Mustang is always worth remembering for Mustang fans who want to trace the roots of this founding father of this genre. A top-of-the-line model, especially this convertible model, can come with a 271 horsepower K-Code “Hi-Po” 289 Windsor V8 engine and with this, the success of the Ford Mustang can be traced here.

1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible

If there's one thing that the original Challenger had that the modern version didn't, it has to be the convertible version. Sure, both the Camaro and the Mustangs have convertible versions through the years but the Challenger is the only underdog left behind and even as of now, Chrysler won't be making a modernized Challenger convertible until further notice. Even though this is the convertible version, it's still a favorite among Mopar enthusiasts thanks to the 426 HEMI V8 engine pumping out 425HP of power output.

Need For Speed (2014 film)

For some unknown reasons, one of the best-selling EA franchises in history, the Need For Speed franchise, has spawned a movie version like any other video game franchises in the world rarely spawn theatrical films for numerous reasons but for those who are looking to watch one of the latest action films in time before your annual spring break draws near, it could be it because the Need For Speed movie is all about speed and revenge. Is it something that really turned you on?

Need For Speed

Although the film has nothing to do with all the Need For Speed video games from the past to present, it's worth enjoyable to watch because in this movie, Aaron Paul, familiar by many as Jesse Pinkman from the concluded Breaking Bad TV series, is the perfect actor to play a role in the movie. Aaron Paul played the role of Tobey Marshall, a man who runs a family business, an auto shop to be precise, and street races with his pals in his free time until tragedy struck him. He was framed for the crime he didn't commit and two years later...he was freed from prison and plans revenge against whoever framed him. He takes on the "De Leon" race, similar to The Run from 2011's NFS The Run video game, which is a cross-country high-stakes street race that spans across the United States. Armed with the highly-customized Ford Mustang to the teeth, Toeby will risk everything to take down anyone who stands in his way and win the De Leon race to save his family business.

This NFS movie combines elements from car movies of different eras, making it a unique high-octane movie you would never disappoint, especially for NFS fans of all ages. To add it to a mix, the NFS movie features a wide range of unfamiliar and familiar stars including Dominic Cooper, who played the role of a bad guy named Dino Brewster, Imogen Poots as Julia Bonet, Scott Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek, and many others. But it's not just about that because while the Need For Speed franchise is all about cars, IT's ALL ABOUT CARS. Period. Aside from the Ford Mustang being the hero car of the film, the one Tobey drives in the De Leon race, it features a million-dollar feast of hyperexotics ranging from the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (which is Dino's vehicle of choice), the Saleen S7, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the Koenigsegg Agera R, the Spanish-made GTA Spano, the hybrid-engine wielding McLaren P1, and so much more. What boggles me is that because those ultra-expensive supercars were featured, the producers told me that no actual supercars, like the P1 or the Agera or the Veyron or any other million-dollar exotics featured in the film, were harmed during the making of the film. That's a mystery...because they used re-bodied versions rather than real ones because it would be too pricey to wreck the real ones while filming the film.

If I had a comment; how come this movie doesn't have Porsches? Sure, EA may have the exclusivity for Porsches but why did they not show up on the Need For Speed movie? Well, EA, do you have something to say? You may have exclusivity for Porsches but how come they never get the star treatment for the Need For Speed movie? It's their time to shine and not that whole Mustang and Koenigsegg and all of that million-dollar exotic nonsense because over the past few years, Porsches have always been the representative of the Need For Speed world and how come, after all those years of being an EA-exclusive, they never showed up in a film based on one of the fastest-selling video game franchises from EA? If the Need For Speed film isn't all about Porsches, who cares?

For an added surprise in the NFS movie, a 2015 Ford Mustang was making an easter egg in the film. If you spotted this "easter egg" car in the Need For Speed movie, what do you think? Well, since the 2015 Ford Mustang is officially an EA-exclusive ever since it made its first appearance on Need For Speed Rivals last year on a free update, it stays an EA-exclusive. Sorry...

So, with all of that, I give a rating of a good-ish 3.5 out of 5. Still, it's worth enjoyable to see one though so don't worry about this film not showing too many Porsches like what most NFS games do because it's so cool...you may want to see this film over and over and over...
