Sa'yo Lamang

Year: 2010

Filmmaker: Star Cinema

Cast: Lorna Tolentino, Christopher de Leon, Coco Martin, Bea Alonzo, Shaina Magdayao, Empress, Enchong Dee, Zanjoe Marudo

In celebration of Star Cinema's 17th anniversary, the premiere film maker from ABS-CBN has pleased to bring its cinematic masterpiece that was directed by the award-winning Laurice Guillen.

This movie brings most of the country's most respected artists such as Lorna Tolentino (Momay), Christopher de Leon, Diether Ocampo (Rubi), Coco Martin (Noy, Tonyong Bayawak), Zanjoe Marudo (Kristine, Parekoy, Banana Split), Shaina Magdayao (Rubi), Enchong Dee (Magkaribal), Empress (Rosalka), and Bea Alonzo (Magkaribal, I Love Betty La Fea), with the special participation of Dominic Ochoa (Rosalka, May Bukas Pa).

Inspired from the 2000 movie, Tanging Yaman, Sa'yo Lamang focuses on the life and times on one family struggling with their lives, and learning the value of trust, loyalty, honesty, and family values.

Upon taking a gander on this movie, it seems most of the characters in this movie has their own bitter tastes, for instance, Amanda (Lorna Tolentino) struggles with her dying life because of cervical cancer, Dianne (Bea Alonzo) tries to fulfill her mother's wish to reunite with her father (Christopher de Leon), the argument between the two boys (Coco and Enchong), and the twists happened on this movie.

This movie is just like Tanging Yaman, and the storyline gives color to this movie, making Sa'yo Lamang an interesting drama movie focusing on the struggles of one family.

Thumbs up to Laurice Guillen! And thumbs up for the cast!

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Heiwa to Kazuhira no Blues

Kept you waiting, huh? Just when you thought you know all about Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker (日本名:メタルギアソリッドピースウォーカー) from the start to the real finish, think again. Of course you saw the whole Peace Walker story from your own eyes, but your ears (unless you understand Japanese) didn't hear the other side of the story.

If so, the other side of the Peace Walker story comes in the Drama CD titled Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker: Heiwa to Kazuhira no Blues. This drama CD comes with the short drama, portraying the Peace Walker story's point of view in the eyes of Snake and Kazuhira "Kaz" Miller. Aside from the drama, there are two character songs added that is really fresh from the MSF Mother Base. Akio Otsuka, as Snake, will sing Showa Blues, while Tomokazu Sugita, as Miller, will perform his version of the most common Japanese song, Minato no Yoko Yokohama Yokosuka. Also, there are BGMs never before added on the original soundtrack, and special tracks including the arrange of the MGSPW main theme used in the recently ended Peace Walker web radio, Kazradio.

A must-have sound ensemble for the Metal Gear fans, especially those who are waited to hear a song from Snake and Miller.

Nissan Fuga Hybrid (HY51)

2011 Nissan Fuga Hybrid

Since 4th Quarter 2009, at the Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan unveiled the second-generation Fuga (known worldwide as the Infiniti M) to target the premium sedan segments covered by the Lexus LS and GS, Toyota Crown and Majesta, and European premium cars such as the BMW 5-Series, MB E-Class, and the Audi A6. Coming this 4th quarter of 2010, here comes the another side of the Nissan Fuga will show its opulent green identity, becoming the optimal target of other hybrid sedans. Welcome to the new Nissan Fuga Hybrid.

Part of the Nissan Pure Drive range, consisting of this, the new Thai-built March with idling stop, facelifted X-Trail Clean Diesel, and another one coming soon, this is Nissan's first hybrid car ever built to show its premium side of clean driving.

The Fuga Hybrid comes with the 3.5L V6 hybrid VQ engine that produces a power output of 306PS/6,400rpm and the torque output of 35.7kg-m/4,400rpm. With the hybrid engine armed and ready for this hybrid phantom, the fuel economy reaches to an astonishing 19.0km/L. That is 3.2km/L more than the Toyota Crown Hybrid, so it declares checkmate for Nissan's first premium hybrid sedan. The Fuga Hybrid comes in seven authentic exterior colors:

1. Crystal White Pearl

2. Eternal Snow White Titanium Metallic

3. Brilliant Silver Metallic

4. Blade Silver Metallic

5. Super Black

6. Garnet Black Pearl

7. Deep Bronze Titanium Pearl Metallic

My thoughts about the Fuga Hybrid:

Just to tell that the Fuga Hybrid is the first hybrid sedan from Nissan, and part of the Nissan Pure Drive range that delivers outstanding fuel economy and a clean living for the environment. To show this premium hybrid sedan's darkest side, it will take a few Japanese executives to try it out before leaving their Crown Hybrids behind the bars. It goes to show you that the survival of the fittest can also be applied in hybrid cars, and the Fuga Hybrid stands out against other premium hybrid sedans. It will arrive in Japan this 4th quarter and in other countries next year. I hope that NMPI or Universal Motors Corporation will bring the Infiniti brand, just so we can try this authentic jewel in the eyes of a Japanese luxury car enthusiast. This is surely worth 7,000,000 Pesos for this hybrid sedan.

Favorite To Aru girls?

As Majutsu no Index II (the second season of To Aru Majutsu no Index) and Kagaku no Railgun OVA (made for DVD and Blu-Ray sequel to the anime) draws near, the question I'm going to face is, who's my favorite To Aru girl? This question seems to be boring for me but anyway here are my top 7 girls that changed the whole To Aru series for fun.

To Aru girl #7: Aisa Himegami - Remember the special featurette called To Aru Majutsu no Index-tan? Second part? Nope? Never mind, Himegami's too mysterious or in Japanese, fushigi. Mamiko Noto did a lot of mystery expressions on that character.

Aisa Himegami

To Aru girl #6: Kaori Kanzaki - Need to say it more? Guess she's bold enough to describe. No wonder that seiyuu Shizuka Ito portrayed such sexy roles not just Kanzaki, but she was Hinagiku from Hayate No Gotoku, Wilhelmina from Shakugan no Shana, and Tamaki from ToHeart.

Kaori Kanzaki

To Aru girl #5: Kazari Uiharu - Kuroko's ally from Judgment, a computer genius, and possibly a cute character from Kagaku no Railgun. Why do I called her cute? It's not her flowery stuff above her head, it's her voice. I can recognize her voice as the seiyuu who is behind Yui Hirasawa from K-On, Aki Toyosaki. At least her voice looks cute.

Kazari Uiharu

To Aru girl #4: Mii Konori - A very kind megane-shoujo Kuroko and Uiharu refer her as Konori-senpai. The brains of Judgment, and too kind for me to describe her seriousness. Kana Ueda, who is Sakuya from Hayate no Gotoku, Rin from Fate/stay night, and Yumi from Maria-sama Ga Miteru, did a lot of serious work portraying the kind but serious Konori-senpai.

Mii Konori

To Aru girl #3: Ruiko Saten - This Level 0, but cool, character seems to be a fan favorite. Her "genki" attitude always the trademark of Saten's personality, especially sometimes she messes with Uiharu. That flower on Saten's hair adds a nice touch of her "genki" personality. Kanae Ito, who is Amu from Shugo Chara, did a good job portraying this "genki" character. I really really like her for her major major humor.

Ruiko Saten

To Aru girl #2: Index - This priestess who was targeted by enemies but protected in the hands of Toma Kamijo? Sure! Index's too cute because of her super-cute personality. Back in the special featurette, Index loves hotdogs? BTW, she made an appearance on a Shakugan no Shana special featurette, Shakugan no Shana-tan. Seems that Index-tan has the urge to say "Urusai! Urusai! Urusai!" on the Index-tan featurette. Keep up the good work, Yuka Iguchi!

Index

and last but truly the first, a two-way tie!?

To Aru girl (or should I say girls) #1: Mikoto Misaka and Kuroko Shirai - I guess I like these two both! Mikoto "Biri-Biri" Misaka is the Level 5 Electromaster and Kuroko Shirai is the Level 4 Teleporter. Both of them are just like Yaya and Angelina, but different in a way. Kuroko loves messing it up with Misaka because, she calls her "onee-sama". Kuroko's funny but Mikoto Misaka is far out COOL because of her enemy butt-kicking coin that fires like a fully-charged railgun. Mikoto Misaka wows the crowd not just her railgun attack, but her tsundere personality. (I remember the hotdog part from Majutsu no Index)

Mikoto Misaka and Kuroko Shirai

Sir/Ma'am/Sir, I guess these are my faves. To Aru Majutsu no Index II coming this October and To Aru Kagaku no Railgun OVA on sale this October. Hope I'll catch them both!

STILL (Panting....coughing) More bad case of Toyota's mass recall

Recently posted on Top Gear Philippines' official site:

Mutual respect and cooperation?

Toyota's taking it seriously while the mass recall still rages on.

Also, another Autoblog article regarding the Toyota recall:

In my highest expectations, this 2010 Toyota Recall case is more dreadful than the Maguindanao Massacre happened in November 23, 2009 and the Manila Hostage Crisis since August 23.

I'll guess I'll put the SWAT meaning to Toyota:

SWAT - Sorry! Windag na ang Aking Toyota!

The pathway to Fuji Speedway - What the fudge happened?!

A few weeks ago, a strange news happened that the Round 7 of SuperGT at the Fuji Speedway was cancelled. That news shocked most JDM and SuperGT fans because of...

I don't know what exactly happened at the road of Toyota-owned circuit but maybe because of some flash floods due to some super typhoon.

OH NO! What's going on with Toyota?! First the mass recall, the death of Hiromu Naruse, and now this?! Seems that the times are making it worse for Toyota Motor Corporation. With the pathway to the Toyota-owned racing circuit temporarily closed because of ongoing repairs, next SuperGT round will be held at the Twin Ring Motegi, one of the Honda-owned racetracks aside from Suzuka Circuit, this October!

Fast times, and sad times for Toyota Motor Corporation. Seems that the Toyota-made robot violinist will be doomed for now.

A Hyundai Sonata will star on Fugitive Plan B...

Moments since Korean superstar Rain was in the Philippines for the shooting of KBS's new action drama, Fugitive Plan B, Hyundai Motor Company will take partnership for the drama.

This is the current-generation Hyundai YF Sonata sold in the Philippines with Korean superstar Rain during the shooting of Fugitive Plan B. Coming soon on Korea Broadcasting System  this late September. Other than Rain, it stars Daniel Henney, Lee Na-Young, and Lee Jeong-Jin.

No freaking way! Hyundai will be leading on Fugitive Plan B while Kia will be leading on Athena: Goddess of War. Two rival stations, two rival car manufacturers, and two action packed Koreanovelas! If I watch both Fugitive Plan B (coming this late September on KBS) and Athena: Goddess of War (coming on SBS this November), which Korean action drama would I go for?

I've recognized Rain (not just as a singer and an actor, he was take place in a BMW web movie, BMW Meets Truth) and Daniel Henney (from the GM Daewoo Gentra TV Commercial). I wanna watch this new action drama!

...it's been three years!

Yes! It's been three years since our favorite alien buddy left our TV screens. But now, September 20, 2010, before TV Patrol, Kokey, our alien buddy returns with the help of Vhong Navarro, Toni Gonzaga, and the Melason tandem (Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco). For those who didn't know about our alien pal Kokey, here goes.

From the Pinoy movie of the 1990's, Kokey is a movie about a young boy who encountered an alien named Kokey, and later became the best of friends.

The Kokey from the movies made me cry but the Kokey from the TV sets made me smile. Everyone smiled at our alien buddy since the TV adaptation from the movie aired in 2007 and ended before Christmas.

Back in my fourth year high school days at Muntinlupa Institute of Technology, me and my classmates often fanfic about Kokey. Think Kung Fu Kids, Palos, Lobo, my classmates, shows from the rival network such as Lupin, Zaido Pulis Pangkalawakan, Marimar, or even Mata ni Anghelita. If my ex-classmates were here, I would blow my funniest Kokey fanfic yet and think Santino from May Bukas Pa, Agua Bendita, Momay, the Ungtas, Gabriel, and Jacob/Eli from Noah, even from the rival networks such as Pilyang Kerubin, the pinoy Endless Love, for the non-relevant; the people from Bubble Gang such as Yaya, Angelina, Bonggang Bonggang Bongbong, Oily and Greasy (these Baklang Grasa gays), the experts of Haka-Haka Bubuka-bukaka, CheChe and Bureche (uy! special mention!), and wait, I forgot the Banana Split guys such as Bhoy, Crissy, the news anchors of Balitang Siksik, Brod, Bro, Bru, Andy the Handyman, the Pinoy, Italian, and Japanese from Tongue Tarang Tongue, Kuya Keem, Dyaskeng Bieber, and others. If my classmates know it, then we can go Sabi-Sabi about my greatest, and funniest, Kokey fanfic yet!

Oh, about the storyline of Kokey@Ako? [SPOILER ALERT] It's about the story of a young girl named Jackie. She lives with her rich family. But all of a sudden, they were attacked by some unknown goons, the parents told Jackie to leave. Once the goons trying to kill Jackie's parents there was some strange light coming, and the strange light took Jackie's parents, to OUTER SPACE!

Tune in to Kokey@Ako this Monday before TV Patrol World! Trust me, this will be more funny than the first Kokey aired since 2007 because there's Melason afoot! Who knows? It's M3! (Melai Mo Magwork!)

On the other hand, who's Kekay?!

The rebirth of Battle of the Brainless...in a musical kind of way

Last night's Lokomoko U brings back our ever favorite Tropang Trumpo portion called Battle of the Brainless (remember this?). With the UP Jazz Ensemble performing the musical number, Valeen Montenegro hosts this ever favorite brainless quiz show that brings back our Tropang Trumpo memories.

Wrong answers makes me ROFL a hundred times, since this is Battle of the Brainless The Musical! ROFL! ROFL! ROFL! ROFL! ROFL! ROFL! (over and over)

Then, massage gags, another tear-dropping chapter of Bahaw Ikalawang Hain (what's going on with Blue, played by Empoy?), another Star Factory segment on how to make foot-long hotdog sandwich, and more of Granny's knock knock jokes on Talentadong Family,

And oh, we also forgot that another mice and rats chatter on another episode of Keso City.

Cheche Bureche yet again...

Last night's Bubble Gang episode showing gags about their katulongs leaving, a cooking show, a katulong's case on the house, best actor, a sign language on the news takes on a new dimension, a clean conscience at the nightclub, spirit of the glass gone awkward, more of Moymoy Palaboy and Roadfill, a retired genie, and a tagakilos for hire.

Also, our newest favorites Cheche and Bureche, are here again, for the third time, in Cheche Bureche! For the third time, our lovable Cheche's watching cartoons, then the grumpy Bureche showed up and she wants to watch some action. Then the father showed up with two gifts, big and small. Cheche chose the big one, then Bureche chose the big one. While the father's away, Cheche and Bureche swapped gifts, then the father showed up, saying why did they swapped gifts. He's proud of Cheche because this small gift is better. Cheche opened the small gift, and she got a cellphone! Then, Bureche opened a big gift, and it's a hat inside! Better luck next time, Bureche!

Impostor ended...and Momay ended too!

Impostor ending and Momay ending

OH MY! Two dramas in ABS-CBN shared the same day when it ends!

First its Impostor, part of the Precious Hearts Romances, starring Sam Milby and Maja Salvador. You know, its Melai in Maja's identity, ooooverrr!! That ending was tragic at its first minute (with part having the villain, played by Precious Lara Quigman, killed the real Mariz, played by Maja Salvador) and in the end, Melai, the former Devon that Maja Salvador also plays that role, makes a special comeback at the end of Impostor.

With the Impostor ending is OOOOVERRR, time to say OH MY at the final episode of Momay.

How it end? Rewind it at the first minute. We first see a espiritista, one of Aunt Hillary's, played by Ogie Diaz, stop by at the espiritista who captured Momay, telling this is the time. Meanwhile, Alyssa tries to persuade that her father was responsible for the arson of Shirley's house, the house where Momay and Justin resides. In fact, the person responsible for the crime told the truth!
Then, Justin and Momay trying to rescue their mother, Shirley, but its too late. Outside the currently burning Fun Land, with Shirley been taken to the hospital, Aunt Hillary showed up, trying to kill Justin, but Uncle took the shot. With Justin's uncle shot by Aunt Hillary, she was about to kill Justin, but the cops took her out. With that nasty aunt died, her soul was been taken by some "giant hand" and her soul, I'm sure, was taken to hell, you know, at the fire! OH MY!

At the hospital, the siblings tried to do everything to keep their mother, Shirley, alive, but it was time's up for Momay. Her "Flower of Life" was withered, and Momay was slowly disappeared.

Moments later, at the house where Justin and Momay resides, Justin and his mother, Shirley, reminded that our friendly ghost was the only one who saved their lives, but forgot to say goodbye. Later, we heard the word "choo-choo!" It's Momay playing with her best pal, Andrew. Of course, she has to say good-bye first to her best friend, her brother Justin, and her mother Shirley. (I'm crying....)

Both dramas shared the same day when it ends! OH MY! OOOOVERRR!!!

Next week, Precious Hearts Romances will present Alyna, which stars Shaina Magdayao, and for three years, our favorite alien buddy, Kokey, is back, with the funniest tandems, Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga, Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco, come full force with some oooveerrr laughs, tears, suspense, and more YAKAPAMILYA on Kokey@Ako!

Hope I"ll catch up with these new additions! Like we said, with great endings come great beginnings.

Tongue Tarang Tongue - The next-generation of Brod Bro Bru

We all going to miss the classic Banana Split portion called Brod, Bro, Bru (in original, level up, props edition, Brod Bro Bruce Lee, celebrity edition, to Brod Bro Bruken).

Since our Philippine summer vacation, ABS-CBN's Banana Split introduces a new kind of Brod, Bro, Bru:

It's called Tongue Tarang Tongue

Why Tongue Tarang Tongue? It's simple. First the Pinoy (first Zanjoe, then John Prats, now Ryan) will say a very Pinoy sentence. Then the Pinoy sentence gets revised Italian-style (Jayson Gainza) or for the funniest, Japanese-style (Pooh).

For instance:

See what I mean? It seems that Tongue Tarang Tongue on Banana Split is the next generation of Brod Bro Bru. Say a Pinoy sentence, then when Italian, LOL. And say a Pinoy sentence, then when Japanese, ROFL!

Paalam! Arrivederci! Sayonara!
