BMW X2 U10 and iX2

The BMW X2 is now in its second generation and it gained its all-electric iX2 equivalent. So, what's it all about the all-new X2 and the first-ever iX2? Come here and let's explain.

The BMW X2 U10, starting at 47,500 Euros plus additional costs, and the first-ever BMW iX2, starting at 49,900 Euros plus additional costs, showcased something that the predecessor failed to be, a proper coupe-crossover sized to X1 proportions.

While the coupe-crossover is something the all-new X2 wanted to be, there's something about its new looks. It looks like a mini-me XM, especially the crazy XM-styled front face. At the back, BMW borrowed something from Mazda's design department for the taillights.

Like its X1 equivalent, the all-new BMW X2 has an interior similar to the latest 2-Series Active Tourer. It has the new BMW Curved Display, which takes center stage on the driver's side. The display runs on the latest BMW Operating System 9, which has noticeable features, including voice control that works like Alexa. Unfortunately, the new model has a floating center console that removes the storage space under the armrest, making it more difficult to store your stuff. On the plus side, the X2 has more interior space than the previous model.

Because it runs on the improved FF platform just like its X1 equivalent, the X2 U10 feels slightly improved compared to the previous model, although unhappy about it.

Under the hood, the X2 is offered with the choice of a 1.5L petrol with 48V mild hybrid system, a 1.5L diesel, and exclusive to the M35i xDrive variant, a 2.0L turbo engine with 300PS of power. Mated to a seven-speed DCT, it does 0-100kph in 5.4 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 250kph.

The iX2, with its 64.8kWh lithium battery pack, is offered with a choice from a 150kW eDrive20 with 459km of driving range up to the 230kW xDrive30 variant that propels this SUV to a 0-100kph time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of a Japanesey 180kph. If the iX2 is good enough on the streets of Tokyo, it's good enough on the streets of Berlin.

Both the new X2 and the iX2 are armed with the most advanced safety features offered. These include the Driving Assistant package with AEB, passive cruise control, and Parking Assistant, among others.

The X2 is the coupe-crossover equivalent of the X1 and this new version is literal indeed, although the XM-styled nose is something the neighborhood should look out for. Still, with its slightly improved packaging and the addition of the iX2 made the all-new X2 worth noticeable from top to bottom. In the end, this is the new normal, after all.

BMW X2

BMW's naming scheme has been taking a confusing turn since the 2-Series Active Tourer and the 6-Series GT and with the advent of the new X2, you might think that it will be a Sport Activity Coupe equivalent of the X1 but no. It's just another midsize crossover that is about the same size as the X1's and I'm here to investigate.

The luxury compact crossover market has been on the roll now these days and BMW is no stranger to these so with the arrival of the new X2, people starting to raise a question if this is a coupe utility or not because in reality, this is not a sport activity coupe just like the X6 and the X4. In fact, this is just a fancy looking X1 in Reeboks or so I thought and while the design is not what you called noticeable by crossover standards, you can call it humorous because BMW tried so hard to convince that this crossover really is a BMW and as demonstrated by putting too much BMW badges on all sides. One in the front, one in the left, one in the right, and one in the back. How funny is that? It's like trying convince the world that your jeans is Levi's by plastering Levi's logos all over it.

The interior is typical BMW and there's nothing special about a well-functional interior that takes time to toy around its gizmos but in terms of creature comforts, it's not really half bad to get acquainted with its decent dimensions as well as the boot space sizable enough for this week's groceries or everyday trips to the thrift shops. It's silly to have a pricey luxury compact crossover go on a shopping spree at the thrift shop but hey, the crossover lifestyle is just about do what you want to do, right?

Under the the hood, the BMW X2 comes with a choice of a 1.5L petrol, a 2.0L petrol, and a soon-to-be-outlawed 2.0L diesel engine, with different configurations. Yes, there are two-liter variants of the X2 but it's too expensive to have a crack at the TNVS business with this. Besides, they might regard that the X2 is just more of a high-riding hatchback rather than the SUV and hatchbacks are banned for TNVS duty so that's no-no. Anyway, the most powerful in the range is the one with the 2.0L petrol producing 192PS of power and depending on the variant and the gearbox of choice (be it Steptronic or DKG), it can go up to 224kph so it's not half bad for a crossover like these.

Front wheel drive variants can be somewhat average to drive but four-wheel drive variants can go from average to decent, which is like one-upping your driving experience, because of its capability to traverse through today's weather forecast and road conditions and with an array of safety features, the X2 feels right at home on the city streets in all of the slightly wrong barrels unless you want to take it out on a road trip through the countryside.

Prices start at 34,050 Euros, which is slightly more pricey than the X1, which sounds quite a lot, but considering how much the X2 possess, it can be either a good crossover or a bad crossover as long as they spend so much time getting to know about the newest entry to the fastest-selling crossover market. Whether you're a crossover fan or not, getting to know the X2 is half the story because if you're going for the long term, feel free to do so as long as you had your final verdict at the end of the day.

X2

Nokia X2

A certain stylish part of the Nokia X-Series, the X2, blends the trend and tech into one fashionable cellphone suited for its budget. Although this is a fair phone for the kids in their fourth to sixth grade and teens in their high school years, the Nokia X2 features a moderate host of features such as FM player, dual stereo speakers, one-touch keys, 5-megapixel camera, and a host of Ovi apps to take part of it.

It seems that this cell-phone wasn't great for the professional techies, but only the rookies and amateurs will be appreciated to the Nokia X2 because of its entry-level size, entry-level features, and a host of optional accessories, including a MicroSD memory car for additional space for your photos, videos, and music.

On my side note, this Nokia is quite OK for me if I want to swap out my old 3230 for that phone because both the 3230 and the X2 have the same features, but different in terms in style, quality, and packaging. If you are a spoiled brat, this cellphone might just change your course because it has a certain sense of style. You'll be glad this is from the stylish Nokia X Series, designed for the generation X.
