The Ford Supervan 3, which I won from the Series 19 Horizon Winter Playlist, is the result of what happens when racecar meets Ford Transit.
The Ford Supervan 3 was showcased in 1994 to promote the launch of the Mark 3 Ford Transit models and it was basically a rebuilt version of the Supervan 2 from 1984. Having used for PR stunt reasons until 2001, the Supervan 3 is made by the folks of DRL Engineering and it features a new bodyshell and a Cosworth HB engine.
However, three years after the Supervan 3 publicity tour ended, Sporting and Historic Car Engineers of Bicester brought the Supervan 3 back to life, only this time, the monstrous Cosworth HB engine has been replaced by a more simple Cosworth Pro Sports 3000 V6 engine.
It may be a van made to do delivery stuff but the Supervan really is one of the coolest creations Ford Europe has ever showcased and because of its racecar components underneath the Transit body, it certainly is one of the easiest monster machines to drive and you can really feel just how special this Transit-bodied racer is by the moment you turn the wheel anywhere.
To see just how super the Supervan 3 is, I went to LEGO Valley to toy around with Ford's concept monster while trying to upset even the most cunning track toys ever made. Let's roll the tape.
That what exciting for a van of this size!
The Supervan 3, being a concept car, is proof that the best-selling commercial van in Britain, the Ford Transit, is a solid all-rounder capable of doing many things; be it for work or for play. This is the jack-of-all-trades and no wonder most white van men in Britain love the Ford Transit.
Imagine life in Britain without the Ford Transit.
