Previously, I held a little farewell party for the best of VWs offered on Forza Motorsport 6 following the sudden announcement from the producers that they will be missed out all the Aussie fun in the upcoming Forza Horizon 3 game due to reasons I don't really understand. The 20th century hits from the Volkswagen timeline, including the Beetle and the Sambabus, had the time of their life, only then the arrival of the hottest V-dubs of the 21st century came into view.
Now, with the hottest 21st Century V-Dubs came here to celebrate their epic farewell party round Bathurst, let's see what's what on the list.
The Golf IV R32, a hot hatch famed for having a V6 engine upfront, which sounds unorthodox for a VW hot hatch, but resulted to being the the top dog of the pack.
The Golf VI R, a hot hatch that balances high performance and fuel efficiency thanks to its smaller but powerful 2.0L TSi petrol engine.
The Scirocco R, the hot version of the revived Scirocco three-door sport coupe and was heavily inspired by the one that made a class victory at the legendary Nurburgring 24 Hour Race.
The Golf VII R, whereas most hot hatches in VW history come and go, this latest version is how you make this Golf the most powerful in the range and make it live up to the fullest.
Watching those VWs roaming around Mount Panorama is like a flock of birds flying together on sunset and it feels so beautiful to watch when I see those driving through a slice of Australia together. Feels like their time has come for the V-dubs to bow themselves...unless, before the V-dubs say goodbye to the Forza franchise, looks like the V-dubs wanted to see which V-dub is the best. I managed to lap round Bathurst in any of the VW offered in FM6 and here are the results;
VW Type 2 - 4:12.154
Beetle - 3:58.047
Scirocco S - 3:26.661
Rabbit GTi - 3:21.710
Scirocco 16v - 3:14.776
Golf II GTi - 3:09.770
Corrado - 2:56.635
Golf III GTi - 3:03.056
Golf IV R32 - 2:54.343
Golf VI R - 2:48.192
Scirocco R - 2:46.390
Golf VII R - 2:44.110
The Golf VII R, being the pinnacle of the Golf hot hatch realm, seems to be the best VW to drive in FM6 because of its improved performance and character and when it comes to choosing which VW I would drive for one last go before VW's big farewell to the Forza franchise, this could be it. The one and only. The fast Golf. Yep. That's the one I'll be having a final go on it.
Phew. Guess it's time to say goodbye to the VW family in the Forza franchise. When they first came in the first Forza Motorsport game a decade ago, fans can't get enough of their greatest hits such as the Golf and the Beetle but now, they're all gone for no reason. It's been a wild ride for all of us.
Goodbye, VW.

Forza Motorsport 6: March of the V-Dubs (Part 1)
Now, when we heard the news that the upcoming Forza Horizon 3 will no longer feature Volkswagen in the lineup at launch, we were saddened by the shocking announcement that the iconic German car company will be missed out on its Australian journey on the next Forza Horizon game. Don't know why they exclude it but probably due to the ongoing scandals that VW faced so far, in fact, it's becoming not quite healthy for the scandal-stricken VW to be featured on video games, well almost.
It's a shame really because while we had fun driving the Golf VII R on FM6, it's sad to say that it won't be appearing in FH3 as well as the other VWs but because it's on an Australian landscape, maybe you can make V-dubs have a little taste of Australia...sort of. Well, since I'm on Bathurst, which is in Australia, I'd decided to give those V-dubs a little Australian vacation before their little farewell party.
In this first part, the 20th century masters of V-dub are having a little free time round Mount Panorama, Bathurst.
The classic Volkswagen Type 2 Sambabus, the minibus that became popular with the hippie crowd.
The original VW Beetle. As many cars go, this "people's car" remains one of the world famous cars in the history of motoring. It even got starring roles such as the original Bumblebee from the Transformers cartoons and Herbie from the wonderful world of Disney.
The first-generation VW Scirocco, which remains one of the most important VW hatchbacks to date and one of the finest specimens designed by the renowned Giugiaro.
The VW Rabbit GTi. Although this is an Americanized VW Golf Mk.I GTi, it's still one of the forefathers of the hot hatch realm.
The second-generation VW Scirocco. An evolution to the first one and the last Scirocco sold in the North American market.
The VW Gold GTi Mk.II, a second iteration of VW's hot hatch icon which takes its hot hatch level a little further.
The VW Corrado VR6, one of the rarest specimens on the road and already a classic in its own right when it stopped production two decades ago.
The VW Golf GTi Mk.III, a third chapter of VW's Golf GTi saga and it comes with the more potent VR6 engine sourced from the fallen Corrado.
Seeing those 20th century hits from VW, it's like living to its last toes while trying to fulfill what's on their bucket list today. From classic icons like the Beetle and the Sambabus, to hatchback favorites like the Scirocco and the Golf, those 20th century masters are living it up to the fullest like there's no tomorrow and because VW won't be coming back on FH3, presumably, feels like they're having a farewell party. Of course, they're all having a farewell party for VW's 20th century hits but what about the best of the 21st century from VW?
To be continued...

Welcome Back: 2009 Volkswagen Scirocco GT
The new VW Scirocco. It's explosive. |
In one episode of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson and James May come up with ideas to create a TV commercial for the diesel version of the new Volkswagen Scirocco. That Top Gear "Ad Men" challenge was undeniably one of my favorite Top Gear moments I've ever seen and it's definitely funny to watch that segment over and over again. Surely their attempts to create that commercial were failed, even with some explosions, mother-in-law jokes, man who lost an arm from an accident, being overtaken by the Mazda RX-8 and Alfa Romeo Brera, man committing suicide, and a funeral with a hint of a woman in a black bikini and some explosions at the end. At the end, Jeremy and James creating their own ads but instead of showing it to the ad agency because they'll reject those, they've showed it at the Top Gear studio and let the audiences decide which ad is better. James May come up with a plant ad while Jeremy Clarkson come up with a Poland mass exodus ad with the tagline "Berlin to Warsaw in one tank".
The return of the 2009 Volkswagen Scirocco on Forza Motorsport 4 is truly a deserving treat since we already tried it in the previous installment but this Scirocco featured doesn't do "Berlin to Warsaw in one tank" because it has a 2.0 TSi engine on it. Despite that, it's still has "Power with responsibility". It doesn't stink as James May's failed advert jingle attempt. LOL

A Tale of Two R's
Song played in my Personal BGM: Do We Rock by Point Break
From the album: Apocadelic
A duel happened at the Top Gear Test Track |
GT5's 2nd DLC Pack offered me the two familiar faces that is somewhat derived from a rival video game but they're new to Gran Turismo 5. The Volkswagen Golf R and the Volkswagen Scirocco R, two familiar faces of different proportions have arrived on Gran Turismo 5 and it's up to me to find out why.
I am surely familiar about the Volkswagen Scirocco R, from the way it looks and behaves as a German hyper hatch, with weight as its beneficiary. On the Golf R, it is benefited with the 4WD system, despite what I'm looking now is the 5-door version of the Golf R. Still, even though GT5 brought in the 5-door Golf R with the steering wheel set on the JDM side (same goes to the Scirocco R, because the steering wheel is set on the JDM side), it has been proven to be somewhat neck-and-neck between the Scirocco R. But with the 4WD, the Golf R is slightly heavier than the Scirocco R. No matter, they're still them.
Imagine if you put these two on a DUEL, who would win? The Golf R? Or the Scirocco R? Which is better? You decide...

Promised to kick the RX-8's back and vomit the Brera's face
When the new Volkswagen Scirocco came here on FM3, we thought that this was our only chance to try out Volkswagen's explosive hot hatch because it was sold in most parts of the world but not in the USA and in the Philippines. Turns out some rejected ad made by Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson and James May were right (reference to Season 13 Episode 7 of Top Gear). The Scirocco has its back kicked by the Mazda RX-8 and the face was vomited by the Alfa Romeo Brera.
The regular Scirocco got sick of having its back side kicked by the Mazda RX-8 and its face vomited by the Alfa Romeo Brera so by solving this, the November Speed DLC Pack included the all new Volkswagen Scirocco R. This was meant to be promised to counter these attacks but is it worth a drool-worthy V-Dub? James May, better reject that jingle you made for the Scirocco and Jeremy Clarkson, prep up some explosives because this new Scirocco R is EXPLOSIVE!
The Scirocco R is heavily inspired from its experiences from the 24 Hours Nurburgring race. Thanks to its dual victory at the 24 Hours Nurburgring, this was the first of its kind on Volkswagen's new R lineup consisting of this and the Golf VI R. Speaking of which, you might think that the Scirocco R and the Golf R are like two sides of the same coin because it was powered by the EA113 (2.0L T-GDi) engine but no. While the Golf R produces 267 HP of power and 254lb-ft of torque, the Scirocco R produces 261 HP of power and 258lb-ft of torque. It is believed that the Golf R is better than the Scirocco R because it has more power and more importantly, it's All-Wheel Drive. However, despite the lag, the Scirocco R has more torque and lighter than the Golf R. Seems like these two are going to be somewhat "neck-and-neck" between those two.
The Scirocco R could be the most explosive Scirocco ever built but still a modified Mazda RX-8 will kick its back side and a modified Alfa Romeo Brera will vomit on its face. This car is all about "power with responsibility" not "Berlin to Warsaw in one full tank". Who knows, this might cause a Mass Exodus among V-Dub fans worldwide. Sorry VW but you'll gonna have to be better than that! The world God only knows that this one could be "STIG APPROVED" if I tried it on the Top Gear Test Track...
Those who're playing Forza 4 and downloaded the November Speed DLC Pack; Get Ahead. Get a new Scirocco R. For people who valued their arms...

Volkswagen Scirocco - Forza 3 Owner's View
Scirocco plays in the plain of Spain |
FINAL IMPRESSIONS: The Volkswagen Scirocco in Forza Motorsport 3 seems to be odd even though its a 3-door sports hatch we salivated over the years. When switched to cockpit view, I was wondering why the heck it was set on a RHD (Right Hand Drive) basis? The speedometer seems to be not on the MPH basis and I think it's not some UK Version of the Scirocco. Maybe I'm guessing that it was some kind of a Japan-spec Scirocco perhaps? Doesn't matter which version is this RHD VW Scirocco but the thing is, it's still a Scirocco we salivated over it since VW USA didn't bring the Scirocco due to exchange rates.
One day, this Scirocco would be ours for the taking as a grey market import...

Volkswagen Scirocco R
Therefore, it starts... The Volkswagen R-Line introduced a newest addition ever since the Scirocco was come back last year. Known to be the best of the Volkswagen R-Line models ever told, the Scirocco R is here.
With the sportier look than the regular Scirocco, the Scirocco R explodes the Autobahn with its performance, quality, styling, and packaging available for the German monster that brings out the gracefulness within.
What brings the beauty of this Autobahn beast is the new engine that was similar to the Golf R, the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, TSI engine equipped in the Scirocco R explodes over 265ps of power at the top speed of over 250km/h. Not only the Scirocco R armed with a manual transmission, but also this monster is equipped with Volkswagen's 6-speed DSG semi-automatic transmission with paddle shifters as an available option. Aside from these, the Scirocco R comes with the performance features that keep adults trying this car for some more, such as the XDS electronic transverse differential lock, electronic stability program, DCC Dynamic Chassis Control, and double-flow exhaust system.
YOU LITTLE DEVIL...
Despite this Scirocco R will not come to the United States or even in the Philippines, regarding no announcement of taking over the Philippine distributor of Volkswagen, the raw power of the Scirocco R is exploding with fun and excitement for adults hitting the thrills on the Autobahn. With the estimated price of about 3,000,000 pesos, there is no doubt this monster would take a heavy toll on the car enthusiast's budget. Only a wealthy adult would take the chance of driving the Volkswagen Scirocco R and tear down the streets of Metro Manila, even on the Saturday night at the Metrowalk. Still, the Scirocco R is the perfect road mauler for the major adults who are looking for some real thrills on the road.
