PyeongChang 2018: CLOSING

For almost three weeks, the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics showcased the world's best athletes competing in various winter sports in different venues stretching across the hosting South Korean county. It's not just about the spirit of competition but also the coming together of different sides torn between conflicts and internal affairs. And now, here it is, the final day of the PyeongChang games and in the grand finale, hours before the closing ceremony, the spotlight is on Bobsleigh, Cross-Country Skiing, Curling, and Ice Hockey.

In this finale to the Winter Games, Germany won gold and silver at the 4-man bobsleigh event, Marit Bjoergen from Norway won the Ladies' 30km Mass Start Classic, Sweden beats South Korea at the Women's Curling, and the Russian hockey players beat Germany at the Ice Hockey.

At the end of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games, the biggest winners are the Norwegians having dominated almost every single event of the Games than every other nation participated.
And now, the closing ceremony, and just like in the opening, the delegation of South Korea, the hosting nation, entered the Olympic Stadium alongside North Korea as a powerful show of unity. Czech's Ester Ledecka, Ireen Wust, Lee Seung-hoon, and  Marit Bjoergen, the "Queen of the Games" are the biggest standouts in the flag bearing ceremony. As the PyeongChang Winter Olympics came to an end, the baton has passed to the next hosting city for the 2022 Winter Olympics; Beijing, China.

The Winter Olympics has ended but PyeongChang will remain open in preparation for March's Winter Paralympics taking place on March. Still, that's the end of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. See you in Beijing this 2022!.
