NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Big Machine Music City Grand Prix

Is Alex Palou the 2024 season winner? The final race of the 2024 NTT IndyCar Series, the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix in Nashville Superspeedway will decide if Palou is this season's champion or not.

As the green flag waved, the final race of the 2024 season commenced and Josef Newgarden's making bold moves against Kyle Kirkwood on the opening laps. As Will Power's title fight got jeopardized due to problems with his lap belts on Lap 13, caution was triggered on Lap 56 when Felix Rosenqvist collided with the wall following a loose left front tire.

Lap 68 restart, with Newgarden leading, Colton Herta is on the hunt. Lap 89 saw Katherine Legge slip off the track, triggering the second caution of the race. Come Lap 135, Marcus Ericsson collided with the wall.

As the race restarted on Lap 147, Pato O'Ward was leading while David Malukas and Josef Newgarden were hunting him down. With the race having five laps to go, Colton Herta slipped into the lead.

In the final race of the 2024 NTT IndyCar Series, Colton Herta won the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, followed by Pato O'Ward and Josef Newgarden. However, despite finishing in 11th place, Alex Palou was crowned the 2024 NTT IndyCar Series champion, his third title.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250

The 2024 NTT IndyCar Series is coming to a close, and the two-part Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250 in Wisconsin was a fitting way to celebrate Labor Day weekend. The chaotic oval racing action was worthy of being described as climactic.

In the first part, Pato O'Ward trumped Will Power to extend his championship lead while Conor Daly made it to the podium by finishing 3rd. In the chaotic final part of the Milwaukee campaign, Supercars legend Scott McLaughlin trumped Scott Dixon and Colton Herta.

After Milwaukee, Palou leads with 525 points while Power is in 2nd with 492 points and McLaughlin's now in 3rd with 475 points.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland

The Pacific Northwest is the next stop for the 2024 NTT IndyCar Series with the Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland, held at the Portland International Raceway. What a way to end summer than intense racing action at the Pacific Northwest.

The start of the race saw misery for Scott Dixon as he crashed after being nudged by Pietro Fittpaldi. As a result, Fittipaldi got penalized for unavoidable contact. Lap 23 saw Fittipaldi and Conor Daly get into a first-corner mishap. Halfway through the race with Will Power, Alex Palou, and Josef Newgarden are hunting each other for the top, Lap 62 saw Romain Grosjean experience some power interruption following a spin and if that wasn't enough, he got collided by Christian Rasmussen. However, Grosjean's back in the running.

After what's known to be a chaotic fight in the Pacific Northwest, Will Power wins the Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland with Alex Palou finishing 2nd and Josef Newgarden finishing 3rd.

With Portland behind them, Palou is leading with 484 points, 54 points ahead of Power, and Colton Herta is in 3rd with 417 points. The title fight is too close to call.

The NTT IndyCar Series is coming to Wisconsin for the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250. This two-part race will be held from August 31st to September 1st, 2024.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Bommarito Automotive Group 500

The summer break in IndyCar racing is over. The 2024 season continues this weekend with the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at the World Wide Technology Raceway.

Polesitter Scott McLaughlin led the grid to the starting line as the green flag waved and the action in St. Louis truly began. As David Malukas charged his way to P2 on Lap 8, a caution was triggered when Katherine Legge and Ed Carpenter got involved in a fender bender. Lap 17 saw Conor Daly get spun after being nudged from behind by Kyle Kirkwood. In Lap 196, Josef Newgarden got spun. With 22 laps left, Malukas crashed, and with 10 laps left, a red flag-triggering incident happened in the middle of a restart when Alexander Rossi's car got lifted following a collision with Will Power.

After an incident-packed oval racing action in St. Louis, Josef Newgarden emerged from the spin and won the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Scott McLaughlin finished 2nd and the rookie driver Linus Lundqvist finished 3rd.

After St. Louis, Alex Palou leads with 443 points while Colton Herta is in 2nd with 384 points and Scott Dixon is in 3rd with 378 points.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto

No IT outage can stop IndyCar from hosting an intense street racing action up north from the border with the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto.

The race begins with polesitter Colton Herta leading the grid while Christian Rasmussen and Santino Ferucci get their cars damaged, putting the race on yellow until Lap 4. Lap 5, meanwhile, saw Agustin Canapino smacked to the wall. As Graham Rahal swapped his steering wheel during a pit stop on Lap 32, Lap 54 saw pitstop issues for Josef Newgarden followed by Linus Lundqvist and Theo Pourchaire getting involved in a mess-up. Lap 57 saw Felix Roseqvist lock the brakes as he nearly crashed the car in front. With 18 laps left, Kyffin Simpson crashed into the tire barrier. With 13 laps left, the big one struck Ontario as Santino Ferucci flipped the car and caused a pile-up that caught some drivers, triggering a red flag. As Scott McLaughlin collided with the wall with just 9 laps to go, the climax is where everything's on the line.

After a disaster-packed Toronto street race, the Andretti team delivered a one-two finish on Canadian soil with Colton Herta the winner and Kyle Kirkwood finishing 2nd. Scott Dixon completes the podium with a third-place finish.

After Toronto, Alex Palou is leading with 411 points while Will Power is in 2nd with 362 points and Scott Dixon is in third with 358 points.

The next race is at the World Wide Technology Raceway for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 this August 17th.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Hy-Vee One Step 250

The 2024 NTT IndyCar Series' two-part Iowa skirmish concludes with the Hy-Vee One Step 250 race and this finale delivered the most insane moment of the season no fans saw it coming.

As Alex Palou dominates the oval for 99 laps, Lap 100 saw Agustin Canapino slip but the track is still green and Palou went to the pits. The yellow flag was triggered. As the race restarts on Lap 114, Palou is still leading while Will Power and Scott McLaughlin are hunting him down for the lead. 45 laps left, three podium fighters had done their pitstop routines and then back for more for the endgame. As the trio fights for the final lap, The Big One strikes as Sting Ray Robb goes upside down followed by Alexander Rossi, Ed Carpenter, and Kyle Kirkwood getting crashed.

After a thrilling Iowa climax, Will Power wins the Hy-Vee One Step 250. Alex Palou finished 2nd and yesterday's winner Scott McLaughlin finished 3rd.

With Iowa behind them, Palou leads with 379 points, Will Power is in 2nd with 344 points, and Pato O'Ward is in 3rd with 327 points.

The next race is the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto this July 21st, 2024.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Hy-Vee Homefront 250

The 2024 NTT IndyCar Series' two-part Iowa skirmish kicked off with the first part known as the Hy-Vee Homefront 250.

The first part of the IndyCar Iowa double-header was a dramatic race with lots of crashes and mishaps. It kicked off with Romain Grosjean and two others being involved in an opening lap incident. Then on lap 81, Graham Rahal had a mechanical issue that caused the second caution of the race. After the pit stops, Scott McLaughlin took the lead. He held it until lap 176 when Alex Palou crashed in turn one. With 40 laps to go, Linus Lundqvist also had a mechanical issue. And then with 28 laps to go, Colton Herta went off track. Ed Carpenter crashed with 22 laps remaining.

In the end, Scott McLaughlin won his first-ever IndyCar oval race. Pato O’Ward finished second, and Josef Newgarden came in third.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio

IndyCar has entered the hybrid era and the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio race of the 2024 NTT IndyCar Series is the start of the new IndyCar chapter. 

The IndyCar's hybrid system is made in collaboration with Honda and Chevrolet. It consists of two main components: the Motor Generator Unit and the Energy Storage System. This powertrain produces over 800 horsepower for the first time in two decades and with the Hybrid Assist and Push to Pass, it gives the cars an additional 120HP. It's fueled by Shell's 100% renewable race fuel.

With IndyCar drivers getting accustomed to the all-new hybrid powertrain, the  Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio race is the true litmus test to showcase the true power of the new IndyCar powertrain.

The start of the race spells disaster for Scott Dixon due to mechanical issues. Following Dixon's opening disaster, the race begins on Lap 3 and the drivers are going all-out, taking full advantage of the new hybrid system. As the race intensified, Lap 61 saw Josef Newgarden go off-track, and with only two laps left in Mid-Ohio, Romain Grosjean got spun and slightly hit the wall.

Pato O'Ward wins the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, the first winner of the IndyCar's new hybrid era. Alex Palou and Scott McLaughlin wrapped up the first podium of the new era.

After Mid-Ohio, Palou leads with 329 points while Will Power is in 2nd with 281 points and Pato O'Ward is in third with 259 points.

The next race is the two-part Iowa battle with the Hy-Vee Homefront 250 on July 13 and the Hy-Vee One Step 250 on July 14.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey

The 2024 NTT IndyCar Series completes the trio of races that occurred on the first Sunday of Summer 2024 in North America with the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey in the legendary Laguna Seca.

The action in Laguna Seca began with Alex Palou and Kyle Kirkwood edging side-by-side in the opening lap. It continued with Scott McLaughlin going off-track on lap 26, then Luca Giotto crashing on lap 35, and Nolan Siegel clipping the wall on the lap 41 restart.

With Colton Herta leading, Alex Palou was homing onto Herta on lap 64 to retake the lead. With 22 laps to go, Christian Lundgaard sent Marcus Armstrong off the track. And with 9 laps left, Graham Rahal and Kyffin Simpson got involved in a crash.

After an intense Sunday thriller in the Seca, Alex Palou wins the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey. Colton Herta finished 2nd and Alexander Rossi finished 3rd.

Palou leads with 285 points while Will Power is in 2nd with 262 points and Scott Dixon is in 3rd with 253 points.

The next race is the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio this July 7th, 2024.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Xpel Grand Prix

After a rough week in Detroit, the 2024 NTT IndyCar Series continues in Road America for the Xpel Grand Prix.

The action begins with an opening lap disaster for Linus Lundqvist as he spun and got Marcus Armstrong into it. Come Lap 6, Kyffin Simpson crashed after he went spinning and crashed off-track. Lap 9 restart, Scott McLaughlin is leading while Kyle Kirkwood and Josef Newgarden are catching him up. Halfway through the race, the three Penske drivers; Josef Newgarden, Scott McLaughlin, and Will Power, are clashing for the top spot. It became a three-way fight between them as the end drew near.

Will Power ended his winless streak by winning the XPEL Grand Prix, leading Penske's podium takeover with Josef Newgarden finishing 2nd and Scott McLaughlin finishing 3rd.

After the action in Road America, Will Power is now leading with 236 points, five points ahead of Alex Palou, and Scott Dixon is in third with 225 points.

The next race is at Laguna Seca for the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey this June 23rd.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix

The streets of Detroit roared to life as IMSA and IndyCar became the stars of this year's Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. Let's focus on the IndyCar side where the drivers still have some leftovers from the Indy 500 to rip through Motor City's finest.

As the green flag waved, the action in Detroit began with a four-car stack-up at the first corner triggered by Will Power tagged by Santino Ferucci, followed by a Lap 16 disaster when Helio Castroneves and rookie Kyffin Simpson got into a fender-bender. Lap 32 saw Scott McLaughlin collide with the barrier.

As raindrops occurred on Lap 36, some drivers began switching to wet tires. As the race restarts on Lap 41, Rinus Veekay got slipped by Will Power. Two laps later, there's drama at the pitlane as one of the crew members slipped the moment after Christian Lundgaard did his pitstop.

Lap 46 saw Colton Herta go off-track after overtaking two drivers. Halfway through the race, another four-car mess-up in the first corner with Lundgaard and Romain Grosjean colliding, followed by a Lap 60 nudge by Theo Pourchaire to Pietro Fittipaldi, and Lap 63 saw Sting Ray Robb getting crashed after being pushed by Scott McLaughlin.

Restart on Lap 70, Josef Newgarden and Alex Palou collided in the first corner, triggering another caution while Lap 81 saw Newgarden tap into the wall. As the race nears its end, Scott Dixon is locked in a heated clash with Marcus Armstrong.

After all the chaos in the streets of Detroit, Scott Dixon won the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix while the two Marcuses, Ericsson and Armstrong, finished 2nd and 3rd. Dixon is now leading the driver standings ahead of Alex Palou.

The next race is at Road America for the Xpel Grand Prix this June 9th.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Indianapolis 500

Never in the history of Indy 500 has experienced these; a 4-hour weather delay and a crossover for Kyle Larson as he's scheduled to race at Charlotte Motor Speedway for NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600, making him the first to race at two consecutive races in the same day. After four hours of waiting, the Greatest Spectacle in Racing roars to life with the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500.

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing kicked off after a four-hour weather delay with an opening disaster when Marcus Ericsson and Pietro Fittipaldi crashed. As the race resumes on Lap 9, Kyle Larson nudges into Ryan Hunter-Reay, and come Lap 22, the only female driver in the grid, Katherine Legge, is experiencing some smoke and forced to pit. Lap 28 saw Linus Lundqvist spun.

Lap 32 race restart, the hunt on Scott McLaughlin was on until Lap 56 saw another caution in the form of Felix Rosenqvist suffering some issues followed by Colton Herta's crash on Lap 86. 

Halfway through the race, Ryan Hunter-Reay got the front damaged on Lap 107 followed by a spin by Marco Andretti on Lap 114. Lap 133 saw Kyle Larson penalized for pitstop issues followed by a Lap 147 crash for Will Power.

With two laps left, it became a climactic duel between Pato O'Ward and Josef Newgarden as the two drivers fought ferociously the final lap saw O'Ward leading until the final corners saw Newgarden make his final gambit.

After a final gambit in the final lap, Josef Newgarden has done it. He got a back-to-back Indy 500 win, the first since Helio Castroneves in 2001-2002. Pato O'Ward finished 2nd and Scott Dixon finished 3rd.

The next race is the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix this June 2.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Sonsio Grand Prix

May is the biggest month of the year for IndyCar racing. That's because it's the month of the Indy 500. Before that, the drivers get warmed up on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the Indy 500 is held, for the Sonsio Grand Prix.

The 85-lap road course action in IMS begins with the chaos that sent five cars going off-course followed by heavy contact between Colton Herta and Marcus Ericsson. A lap later, Romain Grosjean went off-track during his attack on Santino Ferucci. Lap 20 saw Will Power performing a decent attack on Alex Palou for P10.

Halfway through the race, Alexander Rossi is leading with Fittipaldi and McLaughlin hunting him down. As numerous drivers pitted themselves on Lap 63, Lap 65 saw a caution triggered when Luca Ghiotto spun. With the race having 17 laps to go, Alex Palou tried to fend Will Power and Christian Lundgaard off while in the lead but a lap later saw Josef Newgarden and Jack Harvey colliding while Rasmussen went off track.

The Sonsio Grand Prix in IMS Road Course ends with Alex Palou nailing his 10th career victory after beating the likes of Will Power and Christian Lundgaard.

Post-race, Palou leads with 152 points, 12 points ahead of Will Power, while Scott Dixon is in 3rd with 127 points.

The next race is the biggest IndyCar race of all, the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500. It's happening this May 26th, 2024. Don't miss it!

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix

The 2024 NTT IndyCar Series continues in Alabama's Barber Motorsport Park for the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix.

The race kicked off with Sting Ray Robb and Jack Harvey slipping but still standing, followed by Colton Herta colliding with Santino Ferruci and Pato O'Ward went off track on Lap 2. Lap 6 saw Pietro Fittipaldo get crashed by O'Ward while Lap 18 saw Scott Dixon run off-track and fall back. Lap 33 saw Marcus Armstrong colliding with Josef Newgarden. On Lap 52, a mannequin fell on a track and got hit by a passing race car. No one knows what that is.

Lap 55 saw Sting Ray Robb crash to the barriers, and with the race having five laps to go, Christian Rasmussen spun but was still standing.

From crashes, collisions, and a collapsed mannequin, the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix ended with Scott McLaughlin taking the win while Will Power finished 2nd and Linus Lundqvist finished 3rd.

After Alabama, Colton Herta and Will Power are now a point apart, 101 vs 100, while Alex Palou's in third with 98 points.

May is Indy 500 month and the campaign begins with the Sonsio Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course this May 11th.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach

Long Beach shifted into another race weekend frenzy with IndyCar and IMSA. With IMSA's Long Beach campaign done, it's now the turn of IndyCar to make some noise.

As the green flag waved, the IndyCar action in Long Beach was in full swing. However, in Lap 4, Alexander Rossi went to the pits too early due to a left rear issue, probably getting hit by Pato O'Ward. As O'Ward got a drive-through penalty in Lap 10, Lap 15 saw Christian Rasmussen crash, triggering a caution.

As the race restarts in Lap 20, Josef Newgarden's in the lead while Marcus Ericsson and Colton Herta are catching up. Lap 51 saw some pitstop drama for Graham Rahal due to refueling issues, costing his race. With 13 laps to go, as Scott Dixon leads, Newgarden and Herta are hounding on Dixon. With 8 laps to go, Colton Herta made contact with Josef Newgarden from behind.

The intense street racing action in Long Beach ends with Scott Dixon claiming his 57th career win in IndyCar, beating the likes of Colton Herta and Alex Palou.

After Long Beach, Newgarden leads with 87 points, 12 points ahead of Dixon, while Herta is in 3rd with 72 points.

The next race is the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park this April 28th.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Thermal $1 Million Challenge

This is IndyCar's equivalent of the NASCAR ALL-STAR RACE, the Thermal $1 Million Challenge. As the name implies, the winner gets half the prize while the other half will be donated to the driver's charity of choice.

As Felix Rosenqvist wins Heat 1 and Alex Palou wins Heat 2, the first non-points race in IndyCar history since 2008 has kicked off with 20 laps to decide who will win the $1 million challenge. With no single incident, this race became smooth sailing for Palou and he locked his eyes on the million-dollar prize.

NTT IndyCar Series 2024 - Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

The 2024 NTT IndyCar Series has officially begun on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Josef Newgarden leads the grid as the green flag waved followed by some tight racing at the start until Lap 26 saw Marcus Armstrong crash to the tire wall and become the first to retire. 

As the race resumed in Lap 30, Christian Lundgaard was leading while the others behind him were flexing their muscles, trying to outgun themselves. 

With the race having 32 laps to go, a collision by Romain Grosjean cost Linus Lundqvist's race, and with 15 laps to go, pitstop issues kicked Grosjean out of the race.

After a thrilling season opener, Josef Newgarden wins the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Pato O'Ward finished 2nd and Scott McLaughlin finished 3rd.

NTT IndyCar Series 2023 - Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey

Laguna Seca is the final destination for the 2023 NTT IndyCar Series with the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey. As Alex Palou already garnered his championship title back in Portland, it's everybody's game now.

As the green flag waved, the final race of the 2023 season has begun. The opening lap saw a disaster as five cars slipped at the first corner when Scott McLaughlin and Josef Newgarden got into contact. As the race resumes on lap 6, Felix Rosenqvist remains in the lead. Two laps later, another caution was triggered when Josef Newgarden got spun and hit at turn 4.

Continuing in Lap 12, the recent champion Alex Palou is leading while Will Power and Felix Rosenqvist are catching up. However, in Lap 29, Marcus Ericsson got hit by a recoil following a collision with Rosenqvist.

Back in action in Lap 41, Palou remains in the lead while Pato O Ward and Romain Grosjean are catching up. In Lap 57, a disaster for the champion as he went off the track and got stuck while dealing with Devlin DeFrancesco. Come Lap 63, another caution is triggered when the #14 car and Blomqvist got into a messy situation at Turn 1. With 29 laps to go, another disaster in the Seca when Ericsson and Armstrong collided in the final corner.

23 laps to go, Romain Grosjean slips through Pato O'Ward for the lead but two laps later, Helio Castroneves and Colton Herta collided, triggering another full course caution.

After an intense finale, Scott Dixon won the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey while Scott McLaughlin finished in 2nd and Alex Palou finished in 3rd.

With the 2023 season officially done, Alex Palou cemented his status as the 2023 NTT IndyCar Series champion.

NTT IndyCar Series 2023 - Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland

The 2023 NTT IndyCar Series continues in Portland International Raceway for the Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland, the penultimate race of the season.

As the green flag waved, the action in the Pacific Northwest was underway with an opening lap disaster for Romain Grosjean when he and Callum Ilott collided. Come Lap 3, Will Power got slipped at Turn 4, triggering a yellow flag.

Lap 7 restart, Graham Rahal was leading until he went to the pits on Lap 23 with Alex Palou nabbing his lead while Scott Dixon and Pato O'Ward were behind him. Lap 30 saw drama for the Arrow team with O'Ward going off track to avoid Felix Rosenqvist.

As Dixon leads in Lap 49 with the two Arrow drivers behind him, Lap 52 saw Scott McLaughlin losing places. With 30 laps to go, Marcus Armstrong's pit stop hits a snag followed by Agustin Canapino slipping off track three laps later, triggering another full course caution.

As the race restarts with 22 laps to go, more drama ensues a lap later when Alexander Rossi made contact with Marcus Ericsson and then went over the track limits. With 4 laps to go, Colton Herta slipped away.

After a thrilling bout at the Pacific Northwest, Alex Palou wins the Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland followed by Felix Rosenqvist and Scott Dixon.

After Portland, Palou claimed the championship title after leading the leaderboards with 618 points while Scott Dixon is now 91 points behind and Josef Newgarden is in 3rd with 470 points.

NTT IndyCar Series 2023 - Bommarito Automotive Group 500

The 2023 NTT IndyCar Series continues in the World Wide Technology Raceway for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, the last oval race of the season.

As the green flag waved, the last oval race of the 2023 IndyCar season was on with Benjamin Pedersen the first to trigger the caution following a first-lap incident. Lap 10 restart, Josef Newgarden leads while David Malukas and Pato O'Ward make bold moves. Lap 60 saw Callum Ilott enter the pits following a light hit at the final turn. Come Lap 122, another caution was triggered when Takuma Sato got spun.

Resuming on Lap 135, Scott Dixon is leading the race while the drivers behind him are doubling down. As Colton Herta and Felix Rosenqvist fending each other at Lap 155, Dixon pits with just 65 laps to go. However, with just 49 laps left, Josef Newgarden made contact with the wall, costing his championship chances.

After all the drama in St. Louis, Scott Dixon won the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, his 55th career win, while Pato O'Ward finished 2nd and David Malukas finished 3rd.

After St. Louis, Alex Palou leads with 565 points while Scott Dixon is in 2nd with 491 points, and Josef Newgarden's in 3rd with 440 points.

There are two races left this season and the next race will be in Portland for the Bitnile.com Grand Prix of Portland this September 3rd.
