Leopaul's Heaven and Hell: Magnum seduction

Eating a Magnum

When this world's top brand, which is Magnum Ice Cream, arrived for the first time in the Philippines since March 2012, this became the Philippines' trending topic on Twitter. Social networking took advantage of this ice cream's popularity and thankfully, as one of the Filipinos, found out that once you ate one, you want some more. So what is it then, this Magnum Ice Cream?

That is a tricky one. Because it has proven too popular in Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia, it's too difficult how are these mega blockbuster ice cream proven too popular because it was first made by the Danish in 1987. Yep, it was originally made by Frisko in Denmark until this original Magnum relabeled as Magnum Classic.

Anyway, last year, it was arrived for the first time in North America with six variants such as Double Caramel, Double Chocolate, Classic, Almond, White and Dark. I only tasted just the Classic and the Double Caramel but despite that, it was the best. It is the ultimate in "ice cream lust" I can tell. Here in the Philippines, only three variants are available such as Almond, Classic, and Chocolate Truffle. The pricing starts at 50 Pesos (55 Pesos if you're in Mini-Stop or 60 Pesos if you're in 7-Eleven), that is twice as pricey as our favorite Cornetto, which is the best ice cream you can buy for just 20 pesos. Despite being the expensive version of the Cornetto, Filipinos can't stop loving Magnum, even social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter can't escape the Magnum's temptation.

Obviously because it's summer in the Philippines, someone's buying Magnum for at least 24 hours and now and now and now and now and now and now and now, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Why is that? It doesn't matter because this has proven to be extremely popular and I have to say, I love it. Mwah!

This chocolate ice cream bar made with Belgian chocolate is my winner. I would gladly recommend this to everyone because this is ice cream heaven at its best. If you're getting bored in the summer and if you want an ice cream that you can settle it for anything more, buy a Magnum. It's great! ^^

Leopaul's Heaven and Hell: About the Rum Raisin-flavored Ice Cream

Rum Raisin

Since the Summer of 2011, my little sister Cecille, bought some unfamiliar kind of ice cream flavor whom to believed that it was another one of their fancy Haagen-Dazs flavor. This flavor in question is believed to be "Rum Raisin".

Rum Raisin? What's that? At first, I thought this was some kind of an ice cream mixed with alcoholic content and yes, I misheard the word "Rum" to "Rhum". You know, the liquor kind of Rhum. I was trying to find out why my little sister bought this kind of ice cream flavor and how did my big sis, Elise, hated this flavor so much because she claimed that this flavor's rubbish.

When I first tasted this Rum Raisin Ice Cream, I never say that this was so delicious. Despite the tasting, I braved my way to saying that this was the best Haagen-Dazs flavor ever made. As time progresses, I finally found my answer. Rum Raisin was actually just "as seen on" Yuru Yuri. All thanks to this character who loves Rum Raisin, Kyoko Toshino.

Kyoko Toshino

Yes, you got me. The reason why a certain anime otaku's on a hunt for the "Rum Raisin" ice cream is because of the obsession of Yuru Yuri's Kyoko, which of course, she loves to eat an ice cream which flavor was Rum Raisin.

Rum Raisin

Sadly for me, I checked most stores in Seattle and most of the Rum Raisin flavored Haagen-Dazs are gone and I don't know when are these kind of flavors coming back. Pretty soon, I will find one store which has one of these but that takes time. Realizing that I'm the Asian in Seattle who was grown to have developing obsession with a certain ice cream flavor thanks to the influence of anime, it's hard to say that when will I find one again. It wasn't easy finding one but soon, I will find one and experience heaven to a whole new level.

Which sorbetes is better to buy at your grocery outlets?

Selecta Pinoy Sorbetes

Nestle Ice Cream Sorbetes

If my memory serves me correctly, these two spark a rivalry on which "Sorbetes in packs" are tasty, affordable, and fun for the whole family.

You probably saw the Pinoy Sorbetes commercial with Michael V from GMA's Bubble Gang. With the coconut milk added on these "sorbetes", it releases a real flavor that no other sorbetes ever tasted before. I'm sure I haven't tasted these yet, but believe me, this is the most delicious sorbetes you can't find it on the "sorbetero" roaming around the streets.

With Pokwang taking the lead as the TV commercial's image character, Nestle Ice Cream Sorbetes comes in different "sorbetes" flavors; tsoko peanut, ube, and keso. It costs P100, but not much fun to taste than Selecta Pinoy Sorbetes. It's a cheap buy but how can I say when I taste it?

Makes me wonder which of these two are "masarap" for the entire Filipino family, but you'll see....
