One such example is the recently announced Joker from Persona 5.

The rules are simple; knock out all of the opponents and win. However, in this new Smash Bros. game, the battle gets even fiercer as you will have to be familiarized with the new Spirit feature, which is very essential before battles. Taking form from iconic characters, these Spirits can be used for either attacking opponents, boost your characters, and more. There are so many Spirits to collect and experiment with your favorite fighters.

There are different ways to play Smash Brothers SPECIAL. You csn take on free battles by yourself or with your friends, challenge on tournament battles, take on special challenges, and you can even take on the Adventure mode to get to know the fighters better on the fight through the World of Light. You can play with other players ad-hoc or online (requires Switch Online subscription). The world of Smash Bros. is open for earnest fighters like you, new and returning alike.

Got your amiibos? If so, you can scan it with your Switch to make it more fun. If its an amiibo modeled after a playable fighter, you can power up their attributes to make them tougher. If its an amiibo modeled after a non-playable character, who knows what happened? Be sure to scan all of your favorite amiibos on your Switch and see what happens! Surprises abound!

For almost twenty years, the Smash Bros. games became the ultimate party game for everyone while getting tired with all of the talk marathon they're having and with the newest installment, the Smash Brothers game we love has elevated to the max and with the largest number of playable characters to fight as and numerous modes to take part of, it's no wonder this is the Smash game to end all Smash games and everyone's a winner!

Soul Calibur VI

The Soul series from Bandai Namco returns with a brand new installment after so many years of waiting as the stage of history is opened once again for new and returning players to experience the next chapter of this iconic sword-fighting game where every move is a clear difference between victory and defeat.

Soul Calibur VI (PS4)

Soul Calibur VI is the latest installment from Bandai Namco's Soul series and for the first time, it's arrived in the latest generation of gaming consoles, the PlayStation4 and the XBOX One. Armed with the Unreal Engine, every detail, every action, and every angle of the latest installment is very dynamic indeed and very eye-popping as players jump into the newest chapter of the Soul series by all means necessary.

Every character in Soul Calibur VI has a story to tell and in this game, you are greeted with returning characters from the franchise such as Mitsurugi, Sophitia, Zasalamel, Astaroth, Kilik, Talim, and others, including new additions such as mysterious Groh. Apart from them, Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher makes a special guest appearance, making this installment in sync with the tradition of past installments featuring special guest characters for dramatic reasons. Feel free to get to know the characters better in the Soul Chronicle mode, the main story mode of the game.

Like in past installments, you can immerse yourself to the stage of history by creating your own character and then give your creation a headstart in the Libra of Soul mode, a story mode where your character, created by you, will be the main character as you battle numerous foes to become the warrior that changes the fate of history. How your character battles is all up to you.

Playing Soul Calibur VI alone feels good but as one of the ideal party game to entertain your guests, a two-player versus mode adds more fun into this sword-fighting game, giving them plenty of reasons to talk about how cool or how intense this game is. If you are fully prepared, you can take on online battles, ranked or unranked, just to show the world that you are worthy of being the strongest warrior in history.

If you think you know Soul Calibur VI from the start to the finish, think again because there are more to come post-launch so be prepared with the season pass featuring four playable characters coming soon and two creation parts set if you are in a mood of creating your own heroes in the stage of history. The first DLC character is Tira and if you are in a mood to master her Ring Blade weapon and experience her story, be it.

It's a great honor the Soul series has returned and although late than never, Soul Calibur VI delivers a brand new, breathtaking, experience new and returning fans are looking forward to while crunching their fingers for some button-mashing action with their favorite characters or heroes they've created. If you are ready to step back to the stage of history, this is your fate.

Pokken Tournament DX

The ultimate Pokken Tournament experience has finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch as Pokken Tournament DX brings the Pokemon battle wherever you go while introducing you to new and exciting additions that will keep this family-friendly fighting game even more exciting than before.

Pokken Tournament DX

Pokken Tournament DX adds the same goodness from the original version with some added extras that will make you and your friends back for more. In addition to online multiplayer battles and story-focused Ferrum League, and avatar personalization, this game features Team Battle where each round, both players choose one of the three chosen Pokemon to battle with. At the end of the round, the HP and Synergy gauge of the winning Pokemon gets carried over to the next one and the team that defeats all three of the opponent's Pokemon first wins the match. Sounds technical but enjoyable. In addition, Pokken DX features Daily Challenges where you can complete specific tasks to earn skill points to boost your favorite Pokemon's stats.

With a wide array of playable Pokemon to choose from such as Pikachu, Lucario, Charizard, Machamp, Gengar, Gardevoir, Suicune, Sceptile, Blaziken, Weavile, Pikachu Libre, Chandelure, Mewtwo, Shadow Mewtwo, Braixen, and Garchomp, DX introduces five new playable Pokemon such as Darkrai, Scizor, Croagunk, Empoleon, and as a bonus, Decidueye from Pokemon Sun and Moon, bringing a total of 21 playable Pokemon to fight alongside with. In addition to the playable Pokemon, players can select a set of support Pokemon to create a divisive strategy to turn the tide of the battle. Speaking of which, care to recreate some anime moments using the some of the playable Pokemons in the roster? Yes, please.

Like the original, Pokken Tournament DX is a family-friendly fighting game everyone can play with, even your ate or kuya, can join the battle. And because this is Nintendo Switch, you can take the battle everywhere you like, giving you the freedom to play this game wherever you like. From your neighbor's house, frat parties, after-school, office breaks, tailgating parties, every moment is a Pokemon battle and with Pokken Tournament DX, the world is your arena and everyone can join the Pokemon battle if they like.

It really is the ultimate Pokken experience by a long shot, where the only piece missing is you and your pals. Gotta Get Ready For The Next Battle one last time!

ARMS

Nintendo's first-ever fighting game made specifically for the brand-new Switch, called ARMS, rewrites everything they think about fighting games and with the newest addition to the Nintendo family takes advantage of the new JoyCon peripheral, having just one pair isn't enough because you're going to need more to deliver its party piece for the newest Nintendo fighting game.

ARMS

ARMS, so what is ARMS? Nintendo calls it "the first fighting game of its kind" and players are ready to fight like never before as they can fight as different cast of fighters, including Spring Man and Ribbon Girl, and equip them with numerous kinds of ARMS that can turn the tide of the battle. They can only bring three different ARMS to a match and can be swapped during rounds and take note, each ARMS have different attributes such as fire, lightning, or wind. They will have to charge them up during a match and unleash its massive firepower to blow the competition away. Best of all, you can either collect new ones or upgrade existing ones. This means that ARMS isn't just a fighting game because it takes strategy to master different kinds of characters and ARMS to take on skilled players worldwide in various battle modes and show them who's the boss.

In ARMS, you can fight against other players in either 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, or different kinds of games such as volleyball, basketball, target shooting, and many more. Or, you can get to know more about the characters in Grand Prix mode where players take on seven levels of difficulty and 10 matches each to prove that they deserve the title. In terms of playing online, they can either fight for fun in Party Match or fight for real in Ranked Match.

Just to take note, before the Switch's paid online subscription kicks off next year, best to play its online features at no cost for such a limited time, just so you can understand its online multiplayer gameplay better before you're going to charge some to play multiplayer online.

As a game made specifically for the Switch, ARMS offers different play styles but most importantly is using a pair of JoyCons courtesy of the Thumbs-up Grip because with the pair set, players can punch, move, grab, guard, or unleash Rush attacks by the way you move those JoyCons. In addition to the Thumbs-up Grip, ARMS allows players to play the game in various play styles depending on the controllers and layouts.

So, what can I say about ARMS? Taking advantage of the Nintendo Switch, this game is all about taking on all-comers wherever you go and because you are going to need a pair of JoyCons to unleash the ultimate ARMS experience, you should need some more to bring out its party piece because ARMS is more than just a fighting game, it's a party game where you can spend your time with your mates punching each other for the win and that really is the party piece ARMS is all about. Best of all, it's a fun, family-friendly alternative to those hard hitting fighting games your big bro and big sis are familiar with so you can challenge your whole family with the game of ARMS, making it the perfect family night idea after a long, strenuous day. Like I said, it really is a party piece and kudos to Nintendo to create a fun fighting game for all ages to enjoy anyway they like.

Tekken 7

Bandai Namco's hard-hitting fighting franchise is back and with Tekken 7 now arrived on PS4, XBOX One, and PC via Steam, it's going to be as intense and hard-hitting as past installments get.

Tekken 7 (PS4)

Tekken 7 (XBOX One)

For over two decades of delivering the best fistfights by the best fighters from around the globe, the Tekken series ruled the gaming world with its iron fist and with Tekken 7, this is the new standard of not just any fighting game but also esports since it's becoming a major trend in the gaming industry. In this latest installment, new and returning fighters are ready to kick each other's butts in different areas from across the globe, be it from America, Asia, and Europe.

In addition to familiar favorites such as Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama, Heihachi, Xiaoyu, Alisa, Nina Williams, and many others from past installments, Tekken 7 welcomes new additions such as Master Raven, the ever-so-lucky Lucky Chloe, the Arabian Knight Shaheen, Claudio Serafino, Gigas, Katarina Alves, the Filipina who knows Eskrima Josie Rizal, and more importantly, Kazumi Mishima. Oh, and did we mention that Street Fighter's Gouki (Akuma) makes his guest appearance here in Tekken 7? Not sure why but his special guest appearance serves his purpose in The Mishima Saga.

What's The Mishima Saga? It's a Story Mode that delves deeper on the ongoing feud of the Mishima Clan, the hate-filled bloodline, and how the clash intensifies into the ones we know. This is the ideal way to get to know the characters better while working your way to how the story unfolds.

Of course, with every character has their own ending movies to unlock, getting to know your favorite from start to finish is going to be a tough act to follow, not to mention their signature combos to pull off even if you're an amateur who are unfamiliar with fighting games or an unbeatable pro who just wants to get some practice before the big day. No matter how good or bad with this kind of fighting game, you will find that it's going to be very addictive from start to finish, and because Tekken 7 is more than just being an action-packed fighting game, it's also a party game to turn the tides with your mates because with two-player action, it's an ideal reason why your visitors at home are coming back to play Tekken 7 with you. Exciting, isn't it?

For some skilled players who want to get themselves warmed up before the big fight, they can practice themselves offline, either solo arcade battle or treasure battle to get some cash to personalize their favorite characters. Once they're ready, they can ready to take on online battles to see who's the best. Of course, if you're playing this on PS4 or XBOX One, paid subscription is required for online play. Just so you know.

For the PS4 version, there are exclusive features such as Jukebox where you can change the music of the stage you are battling on as well as listening to it, and if you got a PSVR, you can engage VR Mode so you can experience Tekken 7 at your VR headsets while nobody's looking at you.

Of course, over the coming months, you can expect downloadable contents that you can enhance your Tekken 7 experience, including additional characters and costumes on the way.

So, there you have it. With the premiere fighting game franchise from Bandai Namco back for the next installment, Tekken 7 is going to be one helluva blast and with every buttkicking action ready to be experienced by numerous players, they are surely ready for the next battle so GET READY FOR THE NEXT BATTLE!

Pokken Tournament

Gotta Get Ready For The Next Battle! Last year, the people of Pokemon and Bandai Namco, makers of the hard-hitting Tekken series, team up to create a new twist of Pokemon battles. Called Pokken Tournament, it hit arcade stands for everyone to experience a new kind of Pokemon battle by playing as one of the toughest Pokemons in history and see who is the best.

For those at home and you still have that old Wii U with you, here's your chance to try out the Wii U version of Pokken Tournament, packed with added features exclusively for the Wii U, including amiibo compatibility.

Like the arcade version, Pokken Tournament allows players to choose one of their favorites and compete to see who's the best. It can be played solo, with a friend, or against anyone online, this game is all about being competitive. It also works as a party game with your mates.

Players can pick as Pikachu, Lucario, Charizard, Machamp, Gengar, Gardevoir, Suicune, Sceptile, Blaziken, Weavile, Pikachu Libre, or even Chandelure, each with their different kinds of attacks fit perfectly to each Pokemon. Oh, and there are new Pokemon available exclusively for the Wii U version such as Garchomp and Braixen. Someone's going to love Braixen because its Flame Charge attack looks bewitching.

After choosing whose Pokemon you're going to play as, you get to pick a set of Support Pokemon that you can summon anytime per round. You can unlock different sets as well as different arenas if you progress through Ferrum League Mode.

In Ferrum League Mode, you assume the role of a hero and battle your way to become the champion but it won't be so easy. In the world of Pokken Tournament, type matchups are no longer part of the Pokemon battle but only their brute force is what matters so as the hero of this mode, you have to battle through different opponents and become the champion. However, your Pokemon's fighting skills will be tested upon the arrival of Shadow Mewtwo. How will you fare up against a powerful opposition is up to you.

Anyway, let's not be all silly because let's talk about how good is Pokken Tournament and when you play with it, it feels like any other fighting game you know. You'll spend endless hours tapping random buttons to unleash powerful combos and it takes a lot of effort to defeat the opposition. It maybe a fighting game but because this is Pokemon, Pokken Tournament is a fun family-friendly alternative to those...well, you know. Because this is fun for all ages, even your whole friends and family, even your ate or kuya, can join the battle.

Because this is amiibo compatibility, you can gain extras by scanning your favorite amiibos such as extra items to personalize your hero in My Town, in-game funds, and much more.

Pokken Tournament for the Wii U may be somewhat too childish for a fighting game but this is as closest as you get from grown-up fighting games. Playing solo is fine but if your friends and family are joining in the battle, this is going to be as exciting as you can get.

TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2

WE ARE TEKKEN

Tekken (鉄拳) is the kind of fighting game for people who want to move about in a big pantomime or massive west end musical full of color and noise and to hell how cool you can thrash your favorite characters against your rivals across the globe.

Unfortunately, back in the new millennium or 2000 to be precise, Tekken Tag Tournament (鉄拳タッグトーナメント), a different kind of Tekken because of its unique tag battle system, never really cut a mustard. As you'd expect, it isn't quite as enjoyable as the other Tekken games where one-on-one duels are more fun. Tag battles are fine but in the world of Tekken, that's not my kind. It's still isn't a proper Tekken game and it feels like something else...

鉄拳タッグトーナメント2
TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2

Now though, the sequel to the 2000 video game, TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2, has arrived and I'm delighted to say, the lunacy's back! What to expect? It comes with a pair-play multiplayer where up to four players are ready for some tag team battles. A one on one, two on two, or even a one vs. two battle, which sounds pretty unique. It now comes with a different kind of training mode called Fight Lab where you can customize your own COMBOT with new moves and attacks that will edge out your friends. Also, this game says that it even features the longest list of characters, over 50 fighters with different ending clips after clearing Arcade Mode. I DON'T CARE!!!

Sure, you're gonna get people coming up to you saying "Oh! You think your's better than me" and then "Oh! You know you have the longest playable characters to choose from" but it doesn't matter. I even prefer Tekken fan faves such as the iconinc Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama, the antagonizing Heihachi, Law, Paul Phoenix, King, Xiaoyu, and then listen to this!!!

AAAARRRGGHHHH!!!!! HO HO HO HO!!!!

That's the sound of the largest choice of playable characters that fits your choosing and the globe-trotting backgrounds you can thrash around your foes for a change. They're more like a balls-out continental crushers, delicious enough to mess around someone else's for good.

One of the things I like most about this game is how did the sheer lunacy poured out to make Tekken Tag Tournament 2 great thanks to its vivid graphics. What amazes me the most is some environmental effects, seeing our favorites got smothered with water & dirt effects. Best of all, they all got new moves ranging from their tag-throws & tag-combos. That sounds pretty bonkers but that's just half of the story.

Sure, you want to get your hands busy playing Arcade Mode by yourself to watch every character's ending clip after clearing the last stage but that would be too obvious for a Tekken enthusiast. If you're new to Tekken, don't worry about it but the great thing about this game for enthusiasts and newbies alike is online connectivity. That is pretty seamless because thanks to its online multiplayer, you can form teams or play by yourself and show the world how good you really are. Most players wanna be the King of Iron Fists but there can be only one and that's it. Rather than just for bragging rights, online multiplayer is a bit more enjoyable if you're smash talking your rival with your mic.

For added enjoyment, Tag Tournament 2 features World Tekken Federation. For registration, you can track down your fight history, win percentage, battle points, achievements, and much more. This is all common sense but if you're playing Tekken Tag Tournament 2, have it ready on this website: http://tag2.tekken.com/

What we have here then is not by any means the best fighting game in the world but you can play this game everyday if you want it to and it has the most characters that I look forward on this game and the combos I want to thrash to destroy all of my rivals alive. It's a laugh. This game makes me act like an idiot and I think it's absolutely tremendous. You had to be bonkers to play this game and that is why it should.
