Bringing iconic Minecraft moments to life, especially featuring the deadliest creatures like zombies, the creeper, and the ever-dangerous Enderman, is no easy task for the creators of the movie adaptation. However, hard work often pays off, right? Well, almost.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, one of the most anticipated video games of 2025, is the latest chapter in the Assassin's Creed universe. In it, players explore the feudal era of Japan through the eyes of two warriors: a heavily armed samurai named Yasuke and a shinobi named Naoe. Although they chart different paths, they have one thing in common: protecting the innocent and fighting against the guilty.

This game can be enjoyed in two different ways: stealth or brute force. Yasuke is mostly focused on offense and defense. Not only he can attack enemies with his katana, but he can wield ranged weapons such as the arrow as well as heavy weapons which are slow but powerful when used right. Naoe, meanwhile, centers on speed and stealth. She can hide through surroundings, using the top of the rooftops for observing areas, and like all good assassins in the franchise, the signature Leap of Faith. How you approach the quests is entirely up to you.

Mastering both protagonists is crucial in this game. If enemies or challenges get tougher, especially in familiar areas, you can always return later after gaining better abilities and equipment.

Assassin's Creed Shadows faithfully recreates feudal-era Japan, allowing players to immerse themselves in history as they explore villages, temples, shrines, and the rich flora and fauna of this period.

In addition to changes in time and weather, the changing seasons play a significant role in the game. As the seasons shift, your strategies for navigating familiar areas will also need to adapt. For example, during winter, the snowy paths muffle your footsteps, but sneaking across snow-covered rooftops demands careful precision, as you never know who might be lurking below.

The seas are getting rougher in her newest escapades, testing her bravery as an explorer of the seas.

This sequel pushes beyond the limits of what Moana and Maui can do as the adventure progresses. The test of friendship, bravery, and self-discovery made this sequel a must-watch of the Autumn movie season, not to mention the new moments to remember and the songs to get our heads stuck. Trust them, if the first one got one of the memorable songs stuck in their heads, then this sequel promises more.

Twisters (2024 film)

The 1996 disaster movie "Twister" saw a group of underdogs tracking down the most powerful storm in decades. With global warming becoming the talk of the world, it became appropriate to unleash its modern-day sequel to the 1996 blockbuster.

Directed by Lee Isaac Chung and produced by the same folks behind the Jurassic, Bourne, and Indiana Jones series, Twisters is a modern-day chapter of the 1996 classic disaster flick where a group of storm chasers tracks down powerful tornadoes wreaking havoc across the village.

It's a shame the original cast didn't make it to this sequel, which is the biggest weakness this movie showcases, but this movie feels topical and real at the same time because it showcases the grim reality of today's world where global warming can easily trigger record-breaking storms, especially twisters. This is exactly why a modern-day take on a 1996 classic was made.

Amazingly, RAM Trucks were involved in this movie, providing their toughest trucks to withstand the world's deadliest tornadoes unleashed in this movie. Thank you, Stellantis.

Although it nearly doesn't feel like the original, Twisters showcased the grim reality of today's world thanks to global warming. If you got blown away by the 1996 original, just wait until you enjoy its present-day chapter. Be warned.

Dune: Part Two

The Dune saga returns in the latest installment of the movie adaptation of the best-selling book series where Paul Atreides continues his journey across the most dangerous planet in the universe.

With Timothee Chalamet reprising his Paul Atreides role as well as Zendaya as Chani from the previous installment, the second chapter of the Dune saga directed by Denis Villeneuve sees Paul and Chani as well as the Fremen as he's going hellbent on revenge against those who killed his family. Caught in a consequential choice between love and the fate of the universe, Paul is on a mission to avert a possible cataclysm he foresaw.

The second part of the Dune saga truly picked up where the first part left off spectacularly as fans prepared to see what's next for Paul Atreides as he's on a critical race against time to save the universe by all means. Not only the sequel is better than the first Dune movie, but it's also better than most of the sequels of every movie universe we know such as Batman's The Dark Knight and Star Wars' The Empire Strikes Back. A real tour de force for the first quarter of 2024.

With familiar Pikmin gameplay mechanics aside, Pikmin 4 has new features such as collecting materials for construction or crafting new equipment, the Rescue Command Post where you can communicate with your crew or choose to go on Night Expeditions for the first time in a Pikmin game, the new Rewind Time feature where you can correct past mistakes or when you're stuck in a puzzling situation, unlockable landing spots, and Dandori Challenges where you will collect the most items before time runs out. There are so many ways and means you can do while surviving this perilous journey with a band of Pikmin pals alongside you. With that, Barbie and Ken set off on an adventure away from Barbie Land and into the real world.

Packed with witty humor, musical numbers, and overall girl power, no other words can describe the hype caused by the Barbie movie. In fact, this movie is everything, just like Barbie...or perhaps anybody can be like Barbie...or Ken.

Anyway, like the meme it triggered since its announcement, this movie is just like every other toy-based movie like Transformers and LEGO, but because this is a girls' content movie, it's anyone's guess after all, not to mention the fact that the folks from General Motors contributed to this film by featuring Barbie's electric C1 Corvette, Ken's Hummer EV, and of course while getting stuck in the real world, a Chevrolet Blazer EV SS.

Call it plastic but this movie is fantastic. This is probably one of the must-watch movies in the summer season and like Barbie herself, it's everything...or Ken.

The final chapter of the Indiana Jones saga has arrived and it promises to be the ultimate Indiana Jones movie to end all Indiana Jones movies since Raiders of the Lost Ark. Nothing can prepare you for the climax.

The Maximals debuted in the Beast Wars cartoon a long time ago and with two heroic factions teaming up against an ancient menace, it's a dream team worth dreaming about.

With Prime and Bumblebee looking retro in this movie, this movie welcomes fresh additions to the Autobot faction such as the motorbike Autobot named Arcee and a 993-spec Porsche 911 Autobot named Mirage. Yes, there's a Porsche in the film because 2023 is the year of the Porsche, this is why a 993-spec 911 earned a starring role in this Transformers adventure. As they team up with Primal, Cheetor, and the other Maximals, they're up against a renegade faction plotting to destroy the universe; the Terrorcons consisting of Scourge, Terrorcon Freezer, Nightbird, and Battletrap.

It's been a long time coming for fans of the Transformers franchise as they've got their wish to see Autobots and Maximals, well some of them, teaming up on the big screen, and this dream team is worthy of a conversation after watching the whole film. 

With a high-octane blend of action, suspense, drama, and a few laughs in store, this epic rollercoaster ride is knife edge from start to finish and this is going to be one of the must-watch films of the summer, well, it's classified superhero flick because the Autobots and Maximals were really superheroes in the Transformers multiverse and although creepy when you look at them for a long time, they sure know how to act like superheroes in this newest adventure. Let's hope for more like them in their future adventures.

Avatar: The Way of Water, is the long-awaited sequel to James Cameron's cinematic masterpiece that promises to be one of the best films to come out not just this year but the entire decade. Fans who witnessed the original movie have waited long enough to experience the continuation of Jake Sully's adventure as a Navi.

Set over a decade after the first film, The Way of Water sees Jake Sully (played by Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana) raising their own family. As he's fully accommodating his new lease of life as a Na'vi and living in peace, humans are once again threatening the lives of the Na'vis. It's up to Jake Sully and the Na'vis to save their civilization again.

Thanks to Disney's acquisition of Fox a few years ago, the sequel is packed with high-quality visuals that are more colorful than the first film, giving this movie bursting with life and dynamism as moviegoers return to Pandora spectacularly. 

Aside from the vividness it delivers, the storytelling is highly emotional, master-class, and downright relatable. It feels serene to witness the Na'vis living in peace until the clash against human enemies trying to destroy Pandora again evolved this joyful movie into an all-out thriller where they put themselves to the test.

With its storytelling evolved to perfection, stunning visuals thanks to Disney's takeover of Fox, and the moral lessons it delivers, this long-awaited sequel to the 2009 blockbuster is no doubt a worthy contender to next year's Academy Awards. As a trainer who is enrolled in the academy, you will explore the vast wonders of the Paldea region on your own terms, catching Pokemon, battling trainers, uncovering secrets, saving the day, and fighting your way toward the Champion rank, this is the taste of your Paldean adventure and no matter which path you'll choose, it's all about being ready for everything in this game.

Because catching Pokemon is the cream of the crop of the games, the Paldea region is home to new and returning Pokemon such as the starters (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly), Pokemon that can be commonly caught in the wild such as Lechonk, Smoliv, and Pawmi, and some version exclusives such as Armarogue for Scarlet players and Ceruledge for Violet players. Of course, like all good installments, trading's also a great way to complete your Paldean Pokedex, and later on in 2023, you can transfer your favorites from past installments and Pokemon Go via Pokemon Home connectivity. The Paldea region is home to a mysterious phenomenon known as Terastal Phenomenon. By terastallizing a Pokemon, it changes its type to its Tera Type, a newfound advantage to cover its weaknesses. For instance, a Pikachu with a Flying Tera Type will be immune to Ground-type attacks, or a Tyranitar with a Ghost Tera Type will save you from a Fighting-type attack. If you teach a Pokemon with a Tera Blast move via TM, this move will attack using the same Tera Type it's on. Terastallizing is a new way to turn the tables of the battle.

Of course, every Pokemon has a different Tera Type so you can't say which is which. However, if you are looking for a Pokemon with the desired Tera Type you'll need, Tera Raid Battles is a way to go. By teaming up with other players, you can defeat and catch the Pokemon you'll need for future battles.

There are lots of new features in the game such as the Let's Go feature where you'll let your Pokemon do the battling as well as the Picnic feature where you can have fun with your favorite Pokemon and feed them sandwiches to make them more friendly to you. You can even personalize your Trainer Card as well as take pictures with you and your pals. Another enriching way to get used to this new region.

With new and exciting features that will keep you hooked to these installments, Scarlet and Violet truly is a bold new step forward for the Pokemon franchise. With the help of his unlikely allies (played by Keke Palmer, Dale Soules, and Taika Waititi), and his robot cat Sox (played by Peter Sohn), this is exactly what Buzz Lightyear's first mission feels like.

While some purists complain about why putting the Captain America actor in the role of Buzz Lightyear, this origin story of the hero that inspired the toy from the Toy Story movies showcased the world who Buzz Lightyear really is. From start to finish, Buzz Lightyear's first mission really is a spectacle that families will enjoy.
