- Malacañang has acknowledged that the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte is partly a consequence of the Duterte administration's actions. This response comes amid criticisms regarding why Duterte's case was not addressed in the Philippines before being brought to the International Criminal Court, highlighting perceived weaknesses in the country’s justice system. Additionally, Malacañang has challenged Vice President Sara Duterte to return to the Philippines to address various issues she is facing, including matters related to confidential funds.
- An ICC-accredited lawyer believes that former President Rodrigo Duterte's withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC) was self-serving. At the Meet the Manila Press forum, Atty. Joel Butuyan, one of the five Filipino lawyers accredited by the ICC, said that perhaps the former President already foresaw what would happen to him.
