With the Labour Party taking over parliament and Sir Keir Starmer becoming prime minister, the UK is still reeling from the aftermath of the general election. But in Formula 1, it’s business as usual with the Qatar Airways British Grand Prix in Silverstone. Will one of the all-British top three on the F1 grid spell victory for one of them? Will it be George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, or Lando Norris? Or will Max Verstappen spoil the party?
Before the British Grand Prix began, Pierre Gasly was the first to retire due to a gearbox failure. As the race kicked off, George Russell led while Max Verstappen began his frontal assault on the podium. With rainy weather imminent, Lap 14 saw Lando Norris going for the assault tactic on Verstappen, and a lap later, Norris overtook Verstappen followed by Oscar Piastri going P4 as the rain drips through. Halfway through the race, some drivers went to the pits for intermediate tires. The tables are turning until in Lap 34, the pole-sitter George Russell is ordered to retire due to a suspected water system issue. As the sun shines on a mildly wet track, it's Lewis Hamilton's time to shine as the end draws near.

Lewis Hamilton is back and he’s on top. Hamilton won his home Grand Prix in front of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, marking his return to victory lane. Hamilton’s win is a welcome return to form for a legend who has had a difficult season.
The next race of the F1 2024 season will be the Hungarian Grand Prix this July 21st.
