NASCAR returns to the streets of Chicago for the Grant Park 165 and with last year's winner Shane Van Gisbergen back for more alongside a few special guest drivers, NASCAR goes "unbound" with this street race.
The first stage saw Corey LaJoie spin from the 29th in turn 11 exit and hit the wall bringing out the caution on Lap 17 and with rainfall on Chicago roads, Shane Van Gisbergen won the first stage. Lap 26 saw the whole Chicago race placed on Red Flag due to rainfall for 1 hour 43 minutes. As the race resumed on Lap 30, they were facing a time limit. Per NASCAR Rule Book Section 8.5.7.6.C, if this race cannot reach the advertised race distance, the race ends at 2120 hours Eastern Time. With the time limit in place, the drivers are going all out.
