Kanlaon Volcano remains at Alert Level 2, according to PHIVOLCS. Meanwhile, the local government of Canlaon City lifted the suspension of work in government and private offices in their area after the eruption, effective tomorrow.

- Philippine President Bongbong Marcos visited AFP troops in Davao de Oro.

- The UK Health Security Agency is investigating an outbreak of 113 E. coli cases "thought to be linked to nationally distributed food item".

- Around 80 migrants, including three children, were rescued from the English Channel after the boat got into trouble.

- Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething loses a vote of no confidence in the Welsh Parliament after a row over campaign donations.

Sudan's RSF paramilitary group is accused of a village massacre. Footage on social media shows dozens of bodies lined up for burial.

- The United Nations is urging a global advertising ban on big oil companies, saying the industry is the "grandfather of climate chaos" in a major speech by Secretary Antonio Guterres.

- Osomatsu-san returns for its 4th season coming soon.

- A new Hunger Games chapter is coming next year. The fifth Hunger Games chapter is titled "Sunrise on the Reaping" and it's hitting bookstores this March 18, 2025. This chapter is set 40 years after The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes prequel, which inspired a movie, and 24 years before the events of the first Hunger Games novel.

- GOG will delete over 200MB of cloud saves beginning this September, according to reports. GOG stressed that any cloud save files that exceed the "default allocation limit" of 200MB per game will be deleted after August 31.

- Kian84 will host a new Netflix variety show that is coming soon.

- In Game 1 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals, Meralco drew first blood after beating San Miguel Beer at the score of 93-86.

- TV doctor Michael Mosley went missing while on vacation on the Greek island of Symi.
