F1 2024: Lenovo Chinese Grand Prix

After a five-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic aftermath, Formula 1 returns to Shanghai for the Lenovo Chinese Grand Prix. For Sauber driver Zhou Guanyu, it's a dream come true to race in his homeland, but for Max Verstappen, it's like another day for him.

Verstappen's off to a strong start as the race began while Fernando Alonso stormed past Sergio Perez for P2. It went well until in Lap 20, a yellow flag was triggered when Valtteri Bottas suffered from engine failure and retired.

As the race restarts on Lap 27, another disaster occurred when Kevin Magnussen sent Yuki Tsunoda spinning and Daniel Ricciardo collided with Lance Stroll.

After five laps of yellow alert, the race resumes. Logan Sargeant, Lance Stroll, and Kevin Magnussen were slapped with a 10-second penalty for Sargeant causing a Safety Car infringement, and the latter two drivers causing a collision. As the race nears its climax, the drivers are going all-out.

In the end, it's a first win in China for the three-time world champion Verstappen as he beats Lando Norris and Sergio Perez towards victory lane.

After Shanghai, Verstappen leads with 110 points while Sergio Perez is in 2nd with 85 points and Charles Leclerc is in 3rd with 76 points.

The next race of the 2024 Formula 1 season will be the Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix this May 5.
