- Philippine President Bongbong Marcos calls for a paradigm shift in the West Philippine Sea dispute. The President admitted that confrontations in the disputed waters have fallen into a pattern. The Philippines would engage in traditional methods of diplomacy after each incident by sending a note verbale and the Philippine Embassy would send a démarche to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

- The MTRCB has suspended two SMNI programs, including the one with former president Rodrigo Duterte, in connection with his utterance of death threats and use of profane language which the management failed to curb. According to the MTRCB statement, the airing of two SMNI programs; "Gikan Sa Masa, Para Sa Masa" and “Laban Kasama Ang Bayan" was suspended “to prevent a possible repetition of these alleged infractions which may pose a negative impact on public welfare, ethical considerations, and the overall reputation of the broadcasting industry.”

- The Vatican has approved blessings for same-sex couples in a historic ruling.

- A volcano located south of Reykjavik erupted, according to the Iceland Meteorological Office. The eruption began around 22:17 GMT following a series of small earthquakes at around 21:00, the IMO added.

- The death toll from the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that hit China's Gansu has reached 111.

- Hamas released a video of three elderly Israeli hostages. One of them is seen addressing the camera and calling for their release.

- Ukraine is slashing its military operations as its funding dries up.

- The McLaren GTS was unveiled as the improved version of the McLaren GT with new aero updates and an improved 4.0L V8 twin-turbo engine producing 635PS power output and 630Nm of torque, capable of a 203mph of top speed.

- CraftEgg announced it will no longer be in charge of the development of the BanG Dream! Girls Band Party app game beginning in early January. All of the game's assets and data will be handled by Bushiroad itself but players' data and progress will remain intact following the transition.

- The TV anime series SHY will return for a second season.

- The Warhammer video game franchise is getting a movie and TV series.

- Hasbro is reducing its workforce by an additional 1,100 positions.

- Basketball legend Eric Montross died at the age of 52.

- Marvel cuts ties with Jonathan Majors following a guilty verdict of assault and harassment, facing up to a year in prison. According to reports, Marvel will not be moving forward with Majors, who was set to play the villain Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

- According to the QCPD, Ronaldo Valdez was found with a gunshot wound. Reports said he shot his right temple with a gun. The veteran actor was reportedly rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
