The Music City of Nashville, Tennessee is the next stop for the 2023 NTT IndyCar Series with the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix and this race will be the last time they'll be using this format because in next year's season finale, there will be a new circuit layout in Music City. The drivers are giving the outgoing Nashville track layout a proper sendoff before shifting to the new one next year.
As the green flag waved, the action in Nashville is on with Scott McLaughlin on front while Colton Herta going all-out and the others have gone no holds barred. However, in Lap 12, David Malukas is the first to surrender when his car caught up in smoke.
Halfway through the race, the racers are edging at each other until in Lap 46, Devlin Defrancesco faced a minor problem at Turn 9. As McLaughlin overtook Romain Grosjean in Lap 49, Rinus Veekay got pushed over by Alexander Rossi a lap later. With the race has 10 laps to go, Linus Lundqvist's day is done following a crash followed by Jack Harvey a lap later.
Six laps left, a triple whammy from Rosenqvist, Canapino, and Pedersen triggered a red flag.
