The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series returns to Daytona for the final race of the regular season before heading off to next month's playoffs, the Coke Zero Sugar 400. This race will decide which driver will make it to the final playoff spot and it's an all-or-nothing gamble for them.
As the green flag waved, the last NASCAR regular season race before the playoffs is underway. In the first stage, Martin Truex Jr. stormed his way to the lead to score a stage win while the #9 car was experiencing early problems. In Stage 2, AJ Allmendinger takes control of the stage from Chase Elliott while Denny Hamlin was slapped with a penalty when one of his crew was over the wall too soon, and then The Big One that caught Austin Cindric, Ryan Blaney Brennan Poole, Riley Herbst, Ty Gibbs, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Austin Dillon. With Brad Keselowski winning Stage 2 and Truex nailing his 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Regular Season title, the finale saw three Stewart-Haas Racing drivers controlling the pace out front, Kevin Harvick leading with 10 laps left and a freak accident by Ryan Preece.
In the end, Chris Buescher wins the Coke Zero Sugar 400 of the NASCAR Cup Series!
