NTT IndyCar Series 2023 - Indy 500

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indy 500 returns for its 107th year, and this year, it marks the final Indy 500 race for IndyCar legend Tony Kanaan. Parting gift aside, an all-star ensemble of veterans and rookies, including a female rookie named Katherine Legge, gathered around to find out who will be immortalized in the legendary Borg-Warner trophy.

As the green flag waved, The 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 started as the drivers are making their first moves. Come Lap 69, Rinus Veekay fended off Pato O'Ward's surprise move to maintain his 4th-place running. In Lap 91, Tony Kanaan slips past Scott McLaughlin with two wheels off the track, but a lap later, Sting Ray Robb smashed through the wall, triggering a caution.

Things get worse when the drivers are going to the pits in the middle of the yellow flag, Veekay smashed Palou out of the race while exiting from the pits.

Halfway through the race, Marcus Ericsson got three positions into one turn while the others made bold moves. In Lap 134, it's another pitlane drama as Colton Herta collided with Romain Grosjean while leaving the pits.

With 50 laps left, another caution was triggered when Romain Grosjean slipped, and as the race's climax draws near, the remaining drivers are going for broke until 16 laps to go when Felix Rosenqvist collided with the wall followed by an on-track disaster that sent Kyle Kirkwood flipped.

Josef Newgarden made headlines at this year's Indy 500 as he emerged victorious after closely defeating Marcus Ericsson toward Victory Lane. Santino Ferrucci, meanwhile, completes the podium with a 3rd-place finish.

This year's Indy 500 is over but the 2023 season of the NTT IndyCar Series continues with the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix this June 4th.
