Originally set hours after the Indy 500 but due to inclement weather, it was moved to Memorial Day, the crowds in North Carolina have gone wild to witness "the other greatest spectacle in racing" at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Yes, it's the Coca-Cola 600 of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series.
As the green flag waved, one of the biggest races on the NASCAR calendar is on. Stage 1 saw drivers making bold moves until Jimmie Johnson got spun on the track. As William Byron wins Stage 1, Stage 2 saw the #42 and the #43 hit debris on the track, ripping both radiators at the same time. Come Lap 159, the race hit a red flag due to rain.
As the race resumed, Kyle Busch got spun on the backstretch followed by Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott involved in a wreckage. With Chris Buescher winning Stage 2, Stage 3 spelled misfortune for Brad Keselowski as well as Todd Gilliand who was also involved in the said accident. As Stage 3 belongs to Ryan Blaney, the climax gets wild as Tyler Reddick made a close call, Kevin Harvick slides off the track, and another set of on-track disasters to name a few.
