- Actress Vilma Santos and former PH Vice-President Leni Robredo, among many others, are paying tribute to the late novelist and political activist Lualhati Bautista, who died yesterday at the age of 77. Bautista is known for her works that got adapted into movies including Dekada '70.
- The Philippine Coast Guard accused a Chinese Coast Guard vessel of flashing a military-grade laser at the BRP Malapascua last week, while it was out supporting a resupply mission to Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea.
- The Makabayan bloc has filed a petition urging the PH Supreme Court to declare the Maharlika fund bill unconstitutional. They argue that its presidential certification of urgency, and its speedy approval by the House, equate to grave abuse of discretion.
- The UN's aid chief said that earthquake victims in north-west Syria were ignored by the global community. Over 33,000 were killed in the quake that struck the Turkiye-Syria border last week and the numbers will rise.
- The US military has shot down another flying object over Lake Huron near Canada, the fourth such incident this month following the downing of the Chinese spy balloon.
- Israeli president Isaac Herzog warns that the government's plans to reform the judiciary are pushing the country toward constitutional collapse.
- Netflix is expanding its password-sharing limits to Canada, New Zealand, Spain, and Portugal. Subscribers can add up to two secondary users outside of the account's primary location for an additional charge.
- The Genjitsu no Yohane TV anime will air this July 2023.
- The New Mexico State men's basketball team of the NCAA has canceled the remainder of its season after reviewing a police report that cited three players for false imprisonment, harassment, and counts of criminal sexual contact against a teammate.
