NASCAR's 75th Anniversary celebration has begun with the first race of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series, The Great American Race known as the Daytona 500. With big names including Gymkhana hero Travis Pastrana in the mix, the season opener is the biggest way to start NASCAR's 75th-anniversary celebrations.
As the green flag waved, The Great American Race and the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series has officially begun. As Riley Herbst came in too hot, Bubba Wallace collided with the wall and was forced to make an unscheduled stop. As Brad Keselowski wins Stage 1, Stage 2 saw more action as Ryan Blaney, Tyler Reddick, Chase Elliott, and Erik Jones got involved in a multiple collision near the end of the stage. As Ross Chastain wins Stage 2, the final stage saw an early exit for Elliott while Ryan Preece got involved in a collision and the #99 car went off the track, triggering the overtime.
As the overtime kicks in, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. surges to the lead and as the white flag comes in, disaster strikes from behind with Jimmie Johnson and Travis Pastrana involved in the multiple collision course.
