There was never in the history of the PBA that they were up against a powerful team from overseas. The Hong Kong-based basketball team competing for the East Asia Super League, the Bay Area Dragons, became the ultimate challenge for the homegrown PBA teams. The Dragons slayed every PBA team until they met their match; the Barangay Ginebra team.
In the PBA's 47th season Commissioner's Cup Finals, both the Bay Area Dragons and the Barangay Ginebra team fought relentlessly for six games until the decisive Game 7 held at the Philippine Arena. A record-breaking audience count of 54,589 has been gathered to witness the ultimate showdown between a legendary PBA team and a foreign basketball team.
The first half saw the Ginebra team pull a massive lead against the Bay Area Dragons at the score of 61-39, meaning they had the upper hand until when the second half kicked in, the Dragons are getting aggressive to catch them up. Still, the Ginebra team pulled both their offense and defense rather well until the very end of this decisive battle.
