It's the dawn of the new era of Formula E as the Season 9 opener of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Mexico City signaled the true beginning of the Gen 3 era. With new teams, new locations, and a new and more powerful Formula E racer to top it all, the Gen 3 era is promising to be the best Formula E experience ever witnessed.
As the lights went off, the first Formula E race of the Gen 3 era has begun, and with 36 laps to fight, it was everybody's game. The race kicked off with Robin Frijns the first to retire following a disastrous catchup with Nato Norman that injured his left hand and was hospitalized. Moments later, Sam Bird suffered a mechanical failure and therefore out of the race. As Jake Dennis leads the race after 19 laps, Pascal Wehrlein's catching up.

After a thrilling season opener, Jake Dennis of Avalanche Andretti became the first winner of the Gen 3 era while Pascal Wehrlein of Porsche finished 2nd and Mahindra's Lucas di Grassi finished 3rd.
The next race will be at Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, this January 27-28.
