- The DENR's Mines and Geosciences Bureau warned that Boracay is prone to sinkholes and faces the risk of being submerged. Most of Boracay is limestone, which causes sinkholes. According to Engr. Mae Magarzo, “Sinkholes are land depressions due to the removal of support underneath due to earthquake or due to the lowering of the ground waters. These sinkholes are not found in other types of rocks, but exclusively in limestone areas.”
- Bahamas police have arrested the former head of the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Sam Bankman-Fried has been detained as a result of the criminal charges being filed in the US and Washington is most likely to seek extradition.
- The latest trial of the Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai was postponed for nine months.
- A siege at a remote property in Queensland has left six people dead. Two of them are police. They've gone to the house to investigate reports of a missing person.
- Brazil police clashed with supporters of outgoing president Jair Bolsonaro following the arrest of an indigenous leader accused of organizing anti-democratic acts and plotting to stage a coup.
- Dozens of African leaders are gathering in Washington for a major summit hosted by US President Joe Biden. Over 40 heads of government or state as well as the African Union officials and businesspeople are due to attend the three-day summit.
- The Williams Racing team announced that Jost Capito steps down as team principal and CEO.
- The D4DJ franchise casts Revue Starlight's Kanon Nanaki as Ibuki Niijima. She will replace Ami Maeshima following the latter's hiatus announcement.
