Abu Dhabi is the final stop of the F1 2022 season for the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and this race will mark Sebastian Vettel's 299th and final race of his F1 career. With the whole Brazil drama behind them, especially for champion-elect Max Verstappen, the final race of the F1 season is going to be a memorable one.
As the lights went off, the final race of the 2022 Formula 1 season is on. The opening lap saw Lewis Hamilton lifting his car off after tussling with Carlos Sainz at turn 6 as the Mercedes driver runs wide and cuts the corner at Turn 7. With Verstappen leading the race, plenty of action comes into play as George Russell collides with Lando Norris at the pits, causing the former to be imposed with a five-second penalty. In Lap 28, Fernando Alonso's mechanical issues forced him to retire.
Halfway through the race, the two Red Bull drivers are edging things up in Abu Dhabi. Come lap 39, Mick Schumacher tapped Nicolas Latifi, sending both drivers spinning off, causing Schumacher to be imposed a five-second penalty.
As the race nears its end, Lewis Hamilton suddenly slows down and loses places with just two laps to go, causing him to retire from the race.
