The Supercars Championship returns to New Zealand at long last for this season and their NZ return marked the end of Supercars action in Auckland's Pukekohe with the ITM Auckland SuperSprint. It's ironic to put it this way but this is the send-off the Kiwis wanted.

Beginning with the first race, Will Davison made headlines as he became the 26th driver to win a Supercars race after turning 40 years old after defeating local hero Andre Heimgartner. However, in the last two races, hometown hero Shane Van Gisbergen overcome the odds after being technically named the winner of the incident-packed second race where Will Brown's horrifying crash triggered a red flag and the finale where the Pukekohe action ended in style with SVG's historic win.
The action in Auckland's Pukekohe is well and truly over but the Supercars action this season continues with the big one; the Repco Bathurst 1000 this October 6-9, 2022.
