The Next Gen machines faced their biggest test as the NASCAR drivers are eating Bristol dirt again for the Food City Dirt Race. The dirt conditions in The Last Great Coliseum served as the ultimate test for NASCAR's Next-Gen machines after tackling through ovals and proper road circuits like COTA.
As the green flag waved, the dirt race of the season has begun. The first stage saw Chase Briscoe's promising lead go to the wrong side of the dirt after he got spun off the dirt track. As Kyle Larson won Stage 1, Stage 2 saw disaster for Brad Keselowski while Chase Briscoe regains his lead after his Stage 1 disaster. As Briscoe won Stage 2, the final stage saw some rainfall that caused a temporary delay to the race. As the race resumed after a few hours, it didn't take long until another rainfall caused another delay to the race. As the race resumed again, it was an all-out war in Bristol as Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe's lead fight ended in a spin, giving Kyle Busch the opportunity to snatch the lead.
