Genesis Electrified GV70

Launched at the end of 2020, the GV70 is the second SUV in the Genesis lineup and despite its weirdness that puts speedo boys out cold, is surprisingly an enjoyable luxury crossover to drive on a daily basis. With the arrival of the Electrified variant, the GV70 is joining the electrification bandwagon following the success of the Electrified G80 sedan and the all-original EV, the GV60.

2023 Genesis Electrified GV70

Priced at 78,090,000 Korean Won plus additional costs, the Electrified GV70, as the name implies, is the electric version of the GV70 crossover that was launched at the end of 2020. Its potential rivals are the BMW iX3 and the Audi e-tron as expected.

For an average car enthusiast, it looks nearly identical to the normal GV70. The sharp front view, the awkward side profile and the rear view, the buttonless dashboard inside, and seating for five people. For the Electrified GV70, however, the faux grille in the front with the hidden compartment where you will plug your charger in is what differentiates it from the normal GV70.

Offered exclusively in 4WD configuration, the Electrified GV70's electric powertrain features two electric motors each generating 160kw of power and 350Nm of torque. Combined and when engaged in Boost Mode, it generates a total power output of 360kw of power and 700Nm of torque, making it capable of hitting 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds, as quick as a German saloon. As for the range, it's good for 400km, enough to cover a trip from Seoul to Busan with some leftovers to tackle through Busan landmarks.

As for charging times, the Electrified GV70's 350kw rapid charging capability enables its Li-ion batteries to charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes when plugged into a public charging station, although charging times may vary depending on location.

Despite bearing the bulk of its electric powertrain, the Electrified GV70 is surprisingly good to drive because of its highly sophisticated suspension setup underneath, not to mention the application of the Pre-view ECS for an optimized driving experience.

It even comes with a signature e-Terrain Mode which makes this crossover stable to drive in various driving conditions, say tarmac, gravel, or snow. Although I cannot guarantee if this will work with your picnic with Hannibal.

The arrival of the Electrified GV70 is another clear sign that Genesis's electrification plot is building up.
