With the games well and truly over, American motorists hop into the one American pastime they've been waiting for; The Great American Race known as the Daytona 500, the season opener of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series. This is where the Next Gen machines come alive in the 200-lap mayhem where the most chaotic moments made The Great American Race...well, great.
As the green flag is waved, the new era of NASCAR has officially begun. The first stage of The Great American race saw Chase Briscoe going for a slide on the track while the #50 lost a wheel. With Martin Truex Jr. scoring the first stage win of the season, Stage 2 gets even more intense with a Lap 63 crash where eight drivers are involved in the mess. With Stage 2 under MTJ's wraps after a photo finish, the final stage is where the mayhem in Daytona comes alive. First, there's Tyler Reddick, Joey Logano, and Kurt Busch involved in a mess, then MTJ's day in Daytona ended in shambles, and then there's the anti-climactic incident that triggered overtime.
