The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns for the eighth season and this season will be the last for the current-generation machines before the transition to Gen3 machines for the next season. The electric street racing action kicked off in Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, for the two-part season opener, where intense close-quarters clashes a way to kick off the new season of Formula E.

The first race saw last season's champion, the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team, nicked their 1-2 finish with Nyck De Vries the winner and Stoffel Vandoorne the second placer while Avalanche Andretti's Jake Dennis finished 3rd. In the second race, meanwhile, ROKIT Venturi's Edoardo Mortara and Lucas Di Grassi finished in 1st and 3rd while Envision's Robin Frijns finished 2nd.
The next race will be in Mexico City on the 12th of February, 2022.
