The playoffs of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series have begun and Darlington is the first battleground of the Round of 16 Playoffs where the top 16 drivers are fighting for the spot at the top 12.
As the green flag waved, the first playoffs match of the season has begun. The first stage saw the playoffs contender Michael McDowell got involved in a crash. As Denny Hamlin won Stage 1, Stage 2 saw Kyle Busch, also a playoff contender, sustained some damage at the rear-right side of his car while William Byron's day in Darlington is done after a crash. As Kyle Larson won Stage 2, the final stage is where the drama unfolds.

After an intense clash with Larson, Denny Hamlin wins the Cook Out Southern 500 of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series. His spot in the top 12 has been sealed.
The playoffs continue at Richmond Raceway for the Federated Auto Parts 400 Salute to First Responders on September 11th, 2021.
