July 30, 2021 - DAY 8
The eighth day of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics puts sights on Athletics, Canoe Slalom, Cycling BMX Racing, Rowing, Shooting, Swimming, and Trampoline Gymnastics.
Beginning with Athletics, Selemon Barega of Ethiopia defeated two Ugandan Olympians to won gold at the Men's 10,000m final.
In Canoe Slalom, Jiri Prskavec of the Czech Republic won the Men's Kayak Final.
In Cycling BMX Racing, Niek Kimmann of The Netherlands won the Men Final while Bethany Shriever won the Women Final.
The Rowing events saw Emma Twigg of New Zealand won the Women's Single Sculls Final A, Stefanos Ntouskos of Greece won the Men's Single Sculls Final A, Canada for Women's Eight Final A, and New Zealand for Men's Eight Final A.
In Shooting, Vitalina Batsarashkina of the Russian Olympic Committee won gold at the 25m Pistol Women's Final.
The Swimming events saw South Africa's Tatjana Schoenmaker won the Women's 200m Breastroke Final, the ROC's Evgeny Rylov won the Men's 200m Backstroke Final, Australia's Emma McKeon won the Women's 100m Freestyle Final, and China's Wang Shun for the Men's 200m Individual Medley Final.
And lastly, at the Trampoline Gymnastics, China scored a double medal finish with Zhu Xueying won the gold while Liu Lingling won the silver medal.
Onto the medal tall, China still leads the number of gold medals won with 19 while Japan won 17 and the US won 14.
