The Grand Tour is back for this year's adventure that takes them on a so-called epic road trip across Scotland in old American cars.
The Grand Tour presents Lochdown |
Their latest adventure is called Lochdown and amid the global pandemic everybody's facing, that doesn't stop the boys from pulling the stops to deliver one heck of a Scottish road trip viewers will never forget, almost. How hard can it be?
Hold it! Be sure to watch the entire adventure on Prime Video before coming back, okay? Come back here when you're done watching the latest Grand Tour adventure.
Old American cars in a Scottish road trip is what Lochdown's all about. Jeremy Clarkson's car of choice for this trip is an old Lincoln Continental Mark IV while Richard Hammond goes for the Buick Riviera and James May drives an old Cadillac Coupe De Ville.
Their first stop is at the streets of Edinburgh where their cars' troubles, well Clarkson's and Hammond's are, unveiled.
After surviving through the streets of Edinburgh, their next stop is at Knockhill where they are challenged to set a lap time faster against one of the Scottish-built vehicles. Have they done it? Yes but they're not as fast as...the Hillman Avenger Tiger, which is driven by Abbie Eaton.
Due to COVID issues, the boys are not going to stay at the hotel but they're provided with caravans to take around within the continuation of their trip. Their old enemies, huh?
As the trip continues, the boys stop at a petrol station to refill their cars but Clarkson and Hammond pull mischief on May by filling May's caravan with water while he's in the service station and then splash!
After the recent mischief, Jeremy Clarkson reignited the Cold War rivalry with a little segment where they compared American-made cars against Soviet-era cars. Clarkson's in a PT Cruiser, Hammond's in an Aztek, and May's in a Voyager. It's a test of endurance and in the end, the PT Cruiser is the last to survive but Clarkson's unhappy with the results.
Back at the road trip, after Clarkson fixed his car, the boys' search for the A9 went on a bumpy route and if that wasn't enough, Clarkson's caravan came off. As the bumpy road trip continues, Hammond called it quits on his caravan. With James the only one with the caravan and with the day almost done, the boys spend the night on a castle because why not?
After a little montage of American muscle cars, the boys hopped on to America's most iconic muscle cars for a perfectly straightforward shooting weekend. Clarkson drives a Mustang, May drives a Camaro, and Hammond drives a Charger but broke down. That's just the intro for their next challenge because, on that challenge, the boys will modify the American cars they've driven from the start and then set off to the Hebridean island. Hammond's Riviera now sports a Road Runner wing and some other modifications, May's De Ville became a lowrider, and Clarkson's Lincoln now sports drag radials and nitrous oxide, which didn't work on his car.
After several miles of struggle, and another mischief pulled on May's car, the road to Hebridean Island's almost done and they've got another challenge; they will build a bridge.
Several hours later, they've built a bridge, although it's not as straight as they'd hoped for. May was the first to set off but he's stuck in the middle part of the bridge so Clarkson's set off to help him and that gets even more troublesome. With both Clarkson and May stuck, Hammond sets off to finish the job. The three of them are pulling all the stops to cross the bridge and they've succeeded. With Hammond and May broke down after the bridge struggle, Clarkson arrives in what's known to be the most American place in Scotland but when he arrives at the bar...it's not what he's hoping for, even the boys.
And that is the end of Lochdown. American cars on a Scottish road trip never run out of style, especially during the pandemic and here's hoping you had fun with the recent Grand Tour adventure from the start to the questionable finish. Questionable, yeah. Anyway, the boys will return...
