- German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to visit the village of Schuld in Rhineland-Palatinate state, one of the hardest-hit areas in western Germany. The death toll from the western Europe flood tops 180.

- A grenade was found inside a kariton just beside The Philippine Star office, according to the Manila Police District. The rusty grenade was reported by the owner at 0930 hours Philippine time. The commander of the Manila police precinct said the grenade has no pin on it when it was discovered by the kariton owner.

- About 20 are killed when a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall hits Mumbai.

- Afghan peace talks continue in Qatar for the second day amid the ongoing clashes.

- Two athletes of the Tokyo Olympic Village are tested positive for COVID-19, five days before the games.

- China says they will complete construction for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics venues will be finished this autumn.

- Game 5 of the NBA Finals saw the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns in a close score of 123-119. The Bucks leads 3-2.
