BIOHAZARD VII_I_AGE

For 25 years, the Biohazard (Resident Evil) franchise introduced gamers to the world of survival horror. From complex puzzles, terrifying monsters, powerful weapons, a memorable cast of characters, and complicated ways to survive, the pioneer of the survival horror genre keeps on evolving, and in honor of the franchise's 25th anniversary, a new terrifying installment has arrived and it's going to be the most unforgiving installment to date.

Biohazard Village (hereafter, it’s BIOHAZARD VIl_l_AGE because of the Roman numeral VIII on it, meaning eight) is the newest chapter of the Biohazard franchise and the most unforgiving installment ever made, daring players to survive through a mysterious new setting by all means necessary.

Set years after the Baker Mansion Incident from the previous game, Ethan and Mia Winters are living in a quiet life with their newborn daughter Rosemary when suddenly, Chris Redfield and his men raided their home, shot Mia to death, taken the baby away, and dragged Ethan to a faraway place. Now dragged to a new kind of hell, Ethan must survive through the Lycan-infested village to avenge Mia’s death and save his baby while a sinister group of villains led by Mother Miranda is watching his every move.

Back to being a first-person survival horror game, Village uses the tried-and-tested know-how from Biohazard 7 and expands it further to a terrifying new setting where villagers cower in fear, Lycans run amok, and terrifying new villains await your untimely demise.

As a game that is recommended to play on the newest consoles such as the PlayStation5 and the Xbox Series X, Village features near cinema-grade graphics that bring life to the terror it delivers. There’s so much to appreciate its dynamic graphics but that’s all there is.

Oh, and if you're playing it on a previous-gen console like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, you are eligible for a free upgrade when you got the newest generation consoles. Village really is a cross-gen Biohazard game for brave gamers from all walks of life.

As a proper survival horror game, Biohazard Village requires some serious tactics for players as they navigate through the horrors of the mysterious village, solving puzzles, surviving through nefarious swarms of Lycans, and more, requiring the right kind of items for the job at hand. How will you use them is up to you.

When things get rough, it’s good to know that Village brings back the shop feature where players will encounter a mysterious merchant named The Duke. If you see him, feel free to sell some treasures, buy items, refill some supplies, and upgrade your weapons. It’s just like the one from Resident Evil 4 in so many ways.

As part of the 25th-anniversary celebration, Biohazard Village players will have access to an online game titled Biohazard RE:VERSE, where players play as their favorite Biohazard heroes and villains in a no-holds-barred deathmatch where players get turned into a bioweapon and go all-out against the competition.

So, what do you think about Village? Yes, because this is by no means the most unforgiving installment ever made, expect your gameplay experience to be a lengthly one because of the puzzles to solve, Lycans to fend off, villains to take on, and a twisted storyline full of plot twists. Either way, unforgiving and lengthly is what a real survival horror is all about and Village really is the best 25th birthday present to the Biohazard franchise.

So, are you prepared to enter the village?
