Well, it had to happen. After a lifetime of oval racing and some serious track racing from California and New York, NASCAR arrived at the Circuit of the Americas for the first time and this means the drivers have faced their biggest challenge ever; mastering a track that has lots of corners NASCAR drivers call it challenging.

Let's sum up the first NASCAR race at COTA. As the green flag waved, the most challenging NASCAR race ever made has begun in the midst of the overcast weather. Because of the imminent rainy weather, most drivers went to the pits to swap for rain tires, something unheard of for a NASCAR vehicle at this track. As the track gets wet, things get serious when Matt DiBenedetto makes heavy contact with William Byron. As Joey Logano wins Stage 1, Stage 2 saw Kevin Harvick hit and then goes the other guys with Christian Bell out of the race. There's also Martin Truex Jr. and Cole Custer involved in a major accident and the red flag was triggered. As the race restarts, Kyle Busch wins the second stage and with the race reaches its climax, plenty of serious stuff happened with Tyler Reddick spins from sixth and loses track position. With the red flag signaled the premature end of the first NASCAR race at Circuit of the Americas, leader Chase Elliott is technically the winner of the EchoPark Texas Grand Prix of the NASCAR Cup Series. His recent win marked a milestone for Hendrick Motorsports by matching Petty Enterprises' win record of 268. Also, his win marked Chevrolet's 800th NASCAR Cup Series win.
The next race will be at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca-Cola 600 on the 30th of May, 2021.
