Screengrab from FIA Formula E |
In the first part, we saw Stoffel Vandoorne's lead ended by a collision clash by Andre Lotterer, leaving Jean-Eric Vergne sprinting to the lead, then Nyck De Vries, and then Lucas Di Grassi, whose lead is toast when his car slows down, and the crash of two Mercedes drivers as the climax nears. The two-time world champion wins the first part, followed by Sam Bird and Mitch Evans.
The second part, meanwhile, saw Nick Cassidy's leading the grid, Pascal Wehlein's bold moves to the lead, Vandoorne's attack mode, and a disappointing day for the two Audi drivers after the crash. Stoffel Vandoorne wins the second part of the Rome ePrix with Alexander Sims finished 2nd and Pascal Wehrlein finished 3rd.
After all the action at Rome, Sam Bird leads the Driver Standings at 43 points with Mitch Evans four points behind Bird, and Robin Frijns at third place with 34 points.
The next event of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will be at Valencia from the 24th to the 25th of April, 2021.
