Can Shane Van Gisbergen's win streak of the season be broken? That is the question everyone asked that is about to be answered in the three-race Beaurepaires Tasmania SuperSprint held at Symmons Plains Raceway, Tasmania, and it's worth a surprise.
The first race saw SVG nicked his sixth straight win of the season, matching the record set by legends Allan Moffat and Mark Skaife as drivers opened a season with six consecutive wins. In the second race, meanwhile, Jamie Whincup has successfully ended Shane Van Gisbergen's win streak of the season, marking Whincup's first win since Townsville in August 2020. Lastly, in the final race of the event, Chaz Mostert won by a gap of 10 seconds.
Post-Tasmania, SVG still leads the driver leaderboard by 865 points while Whincup's 137 points behind SVG, and Mostert's at third place with 700 points.
The next event of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will be the OTR SuperSprint from the 8th to the 9th of May, 2021.
