For the first time in five and a half decades, NASCAR goes dirt racing in Bristol for the Food City Dirt Race leg of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series! With their machines tweaked specifically for this special kind of oval racing, the dirty side of NASCAR has finally unleashed!
As the green flag waved, the first NASCAR dirt race in five and a half decades has kicked off and as Martin Truex Jr. showcased some early dominance in the first stage, trouble's brewing when the #10 car got hit hard by other cars at Lap 41. Come Lap 48, the #6 got nudged by the #24 car of William Byron, causing it to spin and triggered a caution. After that, Kevin Harvick and Chase Briscoe got into a collision course. Halfway through the stage, disaster again as the #20 got spun and got crashed by two other cars, the 35 and the #42.
As Truex wins stage 1, the second stage saw some more action on dirt with the 153rd lap saw four to six cars got involved in a mess with the #12 in it. Joey Logano wins Stage 2.
With 35 laps to go, the #23 got in a messy situation and several laps later, overtime is triggered and the race to the finish line is on.
