2021 NASCAR Cup Series - Daytona 500

The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series has officially begun with The Great American Race known as the Daytona 500. Held at a socially-distanced Daytona International Superspeedway amid the pandemic, the big season opener sees the debut appearance of the Michael Jordan-run 23X1 Racing team with Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin under his care. With intense crashes witnessed, it's no wonder this year's Daytona 500 roars to life, despite the lengthly weather delay due to inclement weather.

As the green flag waved, The Great American Race has begun...and then 14 laps passed, the big one occured with 26 drivers got caught in the pileup until red flag is triggered and the weather delay is in effect for almost half a day. After a lengthy weather delay, the Daytona 500 action continues and Denny Hamlin wins Stage 1. Come Stage 2, as Kevin Harvick makes his moves, Denny Hamlin nailed another stage win. As the final stage came, the fight to the finish has commenced and when the climax came, disaster unfolds as the #2 car nudged the #22 and then the fiery climax crash triggered much to the dismay of those who got caught in it.

Jumping out from the fiery climax, Michael McDowell wins the Daytona 500 of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series, his first career win.

That is the end of The Great American Race but the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series has only just begun as the drivers will return to Daytona for the O'Reily Auto Parts 253 at Daytona race on the 21st of February.
