What to see at the 2020 MMFF?

Due to the pandemic, this year's Metro Manila Film Festival goes virtual and for the first time ever, all entries of this year's MMFF can be watched globally via UPSTREAM.ph, each priced at 250 Pesos or 10 US dollars plus tax. So, Filipinos worldwide, which one of this year's entries would you want to see?

2020 MMFF entries

1) Magikland - A fantasy adventure film produced by Brightlight Leisure Productions and Gallaga-Reyes Productions. Directed by Christian Acuna and starring Miggs Cuaderno, Joshua Eugenio, Elijah Alejo, Princess Rabara, Bibeth Orteza, and Jun Urbano. It's about a group of youngsters chosen to save a magical world where all the toys and games came from.

2) Coming Home - A dramatic family movie starring Jinggoy Estrada and Sylvia Sanchez. It's about the life and times of the Librada family as they are facing their biggest struggle yet since the return of Salve's husband, Benny.

3) The Missing - The only horror movie of the 2020 MMFF lineup. Starring Ritz Azul, Joseph Marco, and Miles Ocampo, this latest horror masterpiece from Regal Films is about a young woman who fell victim to the curse that lurked from a century-old house.

4) Tagpuan - Starring Iza Calzado, Shaina Magdayao, and Alfred Vargas, this gripping drama film is about three people with bitter pasts face each other in the streets of New York.

5) Isa Pang Bahaghari - A Joel C. Lamangan masterpiece which stars Nora Aunor and Phillip Salvador, this film is about a former seaman, who was presumed dead, returned to the Philippines and tries to fix loose ends with his family.

6) Suarez: The Healting Priest - John Arcilla delivers his stunning performance as the titular priest in this thought-provoking religious film.

7) Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim Ng Bandanang Itim - Comedian and TV presenter Vhong Navarro delivers his comic relief to the viewers in this hilarious fantasy adventure flick.

8) Pakboys Takusa - Comic legends Janno Gibbs, Dennis Padilla, Jerald Napoles, and Andrew E. join forces in this hilarious comedy flick about a Filipino equivalent of the infamous yakuza, the Japanese mafia. How hard can it be?

9) The Boy Foretold By The Stars - With the BL genre all in the rage right now, this entry fits the bill perfectly. Starring Adrian Lindayag and Keann Johnson, this boys-love rom-com is about two high school boys find each other at an optional school retreat.

10) Fan Girl - Starring Paulo Avelino and Charlie Dixon, this film is about a high school girl who is desperate to meet Paulo Avelino but not what she's expecting.

All entries of the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival can be viewed at UPSTREAM.ph until January 7, 2021, Philippine standard time. Each entry costs 250 Pesos or 10 US dollars plus tax to stream. Enjoy!
