The 8 hours of Bahrain served as the final battle of this season and all eyes on Toyota's farewell mission to win their final race of their TS050 Hybrid's career. Their machines took 34 races, 19 victories, 16 pole positions, 15 fastest laps, three Le Mans 24 Hours victories, and four world championship titles.
The final race of the season marks the fifth world championship title win for Toyota Gazoo Racing as their #7 machine nicked its final win of its career and sealed its world championship title status. In the LMP2 category, meanwhile, the #37 Jackie Chan DC Racing won the final race of the season but it's the #22 United Autosports win the title, signaling the end of the LMP2 era. GTE PRO win in Bahrain goes to the #92 Porsche GT Team but the world championship title goes to the #95 Aston Martin Racing, and in GTE AM, the #56 Team Project 1 wins Bahrain but the #83 AF Corse wins the world championship title.
Toyota's successful outing in the LMP1 category of the World Endurance Championship is well and truly over and with work on their Hypercar category contender is on their way, we can expect questions whether it will follow the footstep of its successful LMP1 predecessor. Only time will tell but in the meantime...
Congratulations to the winners of the 8th season of the FIA World Endurance Championship!
This concludes the 8th season of the FIA WEC. See you next season!
