- The first formal peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government are underway at Doha, Qatar. The United States played a key role in brokering peace talks between the two sides.

- Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu called Bahrain's decision to normalize ties with Israel a new era of peace but the Palestinian Authority, Iran, and Turkey condemned the announcement.

- California Governor Gavin Newsome said the devastating wildfires in the US West Coast is the end result of climate change and urged climate skeptics to take a good look at it.

- Peruvian congress is voted to open impeachment proceedings against President Martin Vizcarra for moral incapacity.

- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced that they have captured an American spy last Thursday, plotting to destroy one of the country's oil refineries.

- The Saudi-led coalition which supports the Yemeni government launched airstrikes on two sites of Sana, which is controlled by Houthi rebels.
