Ultraman Taiga: New Generation Climax |
Set moments after the series finale, New Generation Climax sees Hiroyuki Kudo, Taiga, Titas, and Fuma, come face to face with the legendary Ultra Hero, Ultraman Taro. However, Taro got possessed by the power of darkness and began attacking Taiga, his son. Who's pulling the strings to this father-son conflict? One answer; Tregear. The arch nemesis they thought he's defeated, resurfaced and he's got Taro under his menacing strings.
For the biggest kicker of the film, Hiroyuki, Taiga, and friends join forces with their predecessors; Hikaru Raido (Ginga), Sho (Victory), Daichi Ozora (X), Kurenai Gai (Orb), Riku Asakura (Geed), and the Minato brothers (Rosso and Blu). Joining forces, the New Generation Heroes will do by all means necessary to free Taro from the darkness and ultimately put an end to Tregear once and for all.
In addition to New Generation Heroes joining forces, this film features the two biggest points; a powerful enemy and the ultimate hero. First off, there's the kaiju named Grimd, which is known to be Tregear's ultimate trump card to reign down havoc to our heroes, and lastly, with the New Generation Eye under Hiroyuki Kudo's hands, the New Generation Heroes (consisting of Ginga, Victory, X, Orb, Geed, Rosso, Blu, Grigio, Taiga, Titas, and Fuma) fused together as the ultimate Ultra Hero; Ultraman Reiga.
After five heartbreaking months, this is the victory bell fans have been waiting for because with Taiga and friends join forces with their predecessors, New Generation Climax delivered the biggest thrills, the biggest chills, and the biggest explosion compared to past Ultraman films. You had never seen an Ultraman film that is as enjoyable to watch as the others but although it feels a bit less and a bit above average, New Generation Climax served as the ultimate sendoff to the New Generation Heroes, the universe that has been around since Ultraman Ginga.
Just because it has the "Climax" word on the title, doesn't mean it's the end of the New Generation Heroes universe because like every final episode that ends with the word "To Be Continued", the New Generation Heroes universe ushered on its next phase as demonstrated on this year's installment but nevertheless, this film will never be forgotten because this will make fans raise their fists, celebrating the New Generation Heroes' biggest adventure. It's worth the PLUS ULTRA endgame.
My rating: 3.9 out of 5
