2020 NTT IndyCar Series - Genesys 300

After months of standstill due to the ongoing pandemic, the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series is back on track with the first race of the season held at Fort Worth's Texas Motor Speedway, called the Genesys 300. Needless to say that like NASCAR when they resumed their season last month, this season's NTT IndyCar Series is adopting to the "new normal" protocols, meaning no audiences for the time being because most them are staying home, watching their favorite drivers returning on the racetrack while adapting to the current situation.

The return of the NTT IndyCar Series has been the talk of the town since the season opener got postponed last March due to the coronavirus pandemic but now that they're back on track, the best of IndyCar are making the whole summer very exciting with the Genesys 300 race, the first race of the season, at Texas Motor Speedway. Although living in the "new normal", it's still the IndyCar the world know and loved.

As the green flag waves, IndyCar's triumphant return has begun and as the early minutes went pretty well, it went wild as Lap 38 saw two rookie drivers involved in a crash. In Lap 47, Alexander Rossi made a move against Ed Carpenter while some close quarter overtakes intensify. Lap 75 saw a sketchy Felix Rosenqvist trying to overtake Simon Pagenaud for third place. Lap 86 sees Newgarden leading until Scott Dixon takes over in Lap 91. Come Lap 189, after a pitstop, Dixon tries to maintain lead. With 10 laps to go, caution is triggered when Felix Rosenqvist got crashed.

In the end, Scott Dixon nailed the first win of the season and he made history by equaling AJ Foyt's legendary feat of winning a single race IndyCar race in 18 different seasons. Simon Pagenaud finished 2nd, and Josef Newgarden finished 3rd. Pity about Charlie Kimball's last lap crash.

Stay tuned for more IndyCar updates!
