- A fire broke out at Star City in Pasay City shortly after midnight. The popular amusement park was closed when the blaze triggered at 0022 hours local time and brought under control about four hours later.. Even the Manila Broadcasting Company's gutted by the fire as well.

- The Philippines is planning to forge closer defense cooperation with Russia in fighting terrorism, violent extremism, and other transnational crimes. President Duterte has disclosed plans to boost cooperative ties on security and defense when he meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

- A new low pressure area is spotted east of the Philippines but it is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone.

- The Taliban are sending a high-level delegation to Pakistan’s capital as part of a tour that has included Russia, China and Iran in a push to resurrect an Afghanistan peace deal with Washington that seemed imminent just a month ago.

- The Category 2 Hurricane Lorenzo is expected to hit the Portuguese islands Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Waves up to 22 meters (72 feet) high and hurricane wind gusts over 200 kilometers mph (124 mph) are forecast for some islands.

- A federal judge has rejected the Trump administration’s bid to dismiss lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of a 2017 decision to downsize two sprawling national monuments in Utah.

- The leaders of the three US House of Representatives committees accused Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of intimidating witnesses, and said doing so is illegal and "will constitute evidence of obstruction."

- Mazda unveiled their MAZDA3 TCR Race Car, which is set to race at IMSA's Michelin Pilot Challenge next year.
