THREATS FROM NORTH KOREA: Over 70,000 visit S.Korean festival in Tokyo
More than 70,000 people visited a South Korean festival in Tokyo at the weekend despite worsening bilateral ties.
The Japanese and South Korean governments sponsor the annual cultural events in Tokyo and Seoul.
The festival in Tokyo's Hibiya Park featured traditional and K-pop dance performances. Vendors also sold Korean food.
The organizers say the event attracted about 72,000 people, the second largest number since it began ten years ago.
Visitors had a chance to chat with South Korean students through interpreters. Some people asked what South Koreans think of the Japanese.
A 29-year-old Japanese woman said she came to the festival because she thinks it's very important to have exchanges with South Koreans in the current situation. She said she hopes that bilateral relations will improve soon.
