- Only the Philippines and China have voted against the United Nations Resolution that seeks to end human rights abuses of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities in Myanmar during the 42nd regular session of UNHRC in Geneva a day ago. A total of 37 member states voted in favor of the resolution.
- Senator Richard Gordon dared the United States to free the remaining 41 detainees from Guantanamo Bay to match its demand to the Philippines to free detained Senator Leila de Lima.
- Authorities in Indian Kashmir tightened restrictions on people’s movements to prevent possible protests triggered by a speech by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
- Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong announced plans to contest local elections and warned that any attempt to disqualify him will only spur more support for monthslong pro-democracy protests.
