- The camp of Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo expressed confidence that the Supreme Court would uphold the report on the official results and her victory in the 2016 polls. Veteran lawyer Romulo Macalintal reiterated that former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was not able to obtain “substantial recovery” of votes and that Robredo’s lead even increased by 15,000 votes after the recount and revision proceedings.
- Senate President Vicente Sotto III revealed that four to five more witnesses are set to appear in the Senate’s investigation into the alleged anomalies in the New Bilibid Prison.
- The Low Pressure Area has became Tropical Depression Marilyn and it's set to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility within 48 hours.

- The Tokyo Electric Power Company is unable to restore electricity to about 400,000 after outages caused by Typhoon Faxai. Typhoon Faxai hit the capital and surrounding regions with destructive winds of up to 216 kph (134 mph) in the early hours of Monday, causing at least one death, damage, transport chaos and power outages.
- New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern apologized for her party’s handling of sexual assault complaints against a party staffer and accepted the resignation of the party president over the matter.
